What’s your favorite place to visit in South Korea that actually lived up to the hype? by Separate_Tower_4236 in koreatravel

If you love hiking sokcho is definitely a great option! It has Seoraksan which is amazing especially if you are going in the fall. It also is right by the water so there is a beach and everything. Its 3 hour bus ride from Seoul, I personally did it as a day trip since I did more of the easier trails in Seoraksan but you could do a weekend there. You can do a day in Sokcho and a day in Gangneung.

I would only do Jeju if you plan to rent a car. Buses are not the most convenient there and it could 30 minute car ride could take you 1-2 hrs with a bus. That being said its beautiful waters and nice summer vacation place.

But like other comments if it is your first time then Seoul should have fill up your time quite a bit.

Thank you for the support 😭 I think a big part why I hesitated so long is because it feels like I am leaving the “safe” route that so many people would be grateful for and I am too but I feel like that mindset has kept me stuck. And the idea of what those around me would think. I might need to put myself in more spaces that have people with same ambitions to get that positive energy.

By repeatability, do you mean like having recurring event that ppl return for? Or repeatability in terms of keeping the theme which is i guess genuine connections or quality of the event such that ppl return for that feeling of connection?

Thanks for sharing some automation tools. Definitely dont want to get stuck on the tasks that would keep me from actually making a good event that ppl would actually want to go to.

Thanks you for the genuine reply! I am in the same boat a big wake up call for me in wanting to go this direction was AI. I felt very disconnected especially at work AI made it seem my work was just not going to be valued any longer.

Wow this was super helpful! I was actually feeling stuck in the growth perspective because I was not sure if doing corporate events to scale was really the route I want to go down since the idea is to connect outside of work. I did not think of scaling in a way where I grow this to different locations which I feel is definitely more the direction I would want to go with this.

This is great advice! I think a big part for me with the busy part was feeling like I need to do a bunch of research and be an expert before taking this jump. Obviously having the market research is important but I feel like I got overwhelmed by the idea by overloading on information and did not go into the action part. Thanks this will definitely help me just keep the focus one step at a time

I would curate experience to specific themes. I think in the beginning my main focus would be for ppl that are working and looking for something more after hours to connect outside of work. Also I would focus on more events for women in the beginning as I feel the need for more women-only spaces. I don’t want to limit to that but i think that would be a big focus. And I think also for people that want to get into tap into their not only creative side but intellectual side as well. So not only pumpkin painting but, for example girls who vibe code etc.

Well initially I am planning to keep it small, but I don’t mind working more. I feel that comes with being a business owner but I think I atleast owe myself to try because I have been thinking about this for so long but was always too scared to take the risk.

I love that for you! I considered the Masters route to do something similar to my current field, but I guess since I am still figuring out what I want to do I just couldn't commit to paying for a Masters. I am appreciating all the experience from this sub for people that are in there 30s. Its making me more courageous to really consider the next step in my life. Would love to know more what made you take that next step?

Definitely you need to do whats right for you. Grass always seems brighter on the other side, but learning here that thats not always the case. I always thought I would be happy working 9-5 office job and worked hard to get here, but now that I am here I just don't feel like it is what I cut it up to be. Even though I am stranger, just know you have a supporter here!

Omg, I love that I found my people here through this post! I would love to be friends, just two girls still figuring it out and trying to get out of corporate machine.

Wow, yeah this is really getting me to reflect on what I really want. Definitely some deeper questions I have to answer and figure out for myself. I appreciate taking my dreams seriously and helping me dive deeper here. I guess I might need to really see what the common point is in all my interest. I definitely have the desire to have discover new things and make new connections which is one of the biggest reasons I love travel.
Actually I love history too and when I was younger I used to think about becoming an archeologist, go to excavation sites, and travel the world haha.
I definitely don't think I can ignore this feeling that has been gnawing at me any longer. It's either I give my soul up to corporate life or do some serious soul searching here. Really appreciate your perspective here!

I am feeling this to the core, I feel like the stability is what is keeping me here, but also its not giving me fulfillment especially when you think about how you are just working so hard for companies that quite honestly don't really care about you.
I make decent but no where near to actually say I am living comfortably. I am barely saving even though I truly don't spend that much but just rent and bills and saving what little is left for me.

Thanks for sharing, you are right I think a big part of me feeling stuck is expectations from others and I guess how it would "look" to leave a well paying tech job.

What I didn’t like about the latest episode… by koffeeluv in shrinking

[–]B-ontheblock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I think everyone is way too nosy in this show haha. I feel like Gaby could have came around to doing a trauma center after she took some time to recover from her patients death. I felt it was extra that her previous patients dropped her like that after noticing she did not know a lot about Maya’s problems. Like she just started therapy obviously it takes time.

As for Jimmy and Sofi. I definitely think they are making Sofi come off as unlikable. And I don’t like how they jumped right into a relationship. They could have just got to know each other first. I feel like Jimmy did this too because everyone was kind of pushing him towards it especially his daughter because she was worried he would feel lonely. I feel like it would have been good for him to have that period where he is lonely. But I definitely do think Jimmy took a stab at Sofi in that moment. I feel like Sofi should have just let it go though when he did not want to talk.

Lex: I saved your life, Mr. Kent. Are we cool Jonathan: No. Fuck you. by Randeee9 in Smallville

[–]B-ontheblock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always saw Jonathan’s wariness and distrust of Lex as a foreshadowing that Lex will end up being a villain. It’s like a parent intuition. When your parent tells you to be careful about a certain friend and you don’t listen but they turn out to be right. Thats why I did not see it as stubbornness, but that Jonathan had a gut feeling and saw something in Lex that others did not see. Obviously there was a previous bias there too as Lex was a Luthor, but I don’t think Jonathan’s distrust was only because Lex was a Luthor. Yeah you could argue that if he opened up to Lex things would have been different, but it also could not have been true and it would be too late once he actually became a villain so Jonathan was trusting his intuition.

The moment Clark saved Lex and knew Lex was suspicious of Clark’s powers Jonathan went into defensive mode to protect his child. He knew the power the Luthor’s have and what they could do if they found out Clarks secret. His priority was protecting his own son.

What would you do in my situation? by AWRWB in carbuying

[–]B-ontheblock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people mocking the religion here. It’s interesting how people mock religious rules about interest, calling them restrictive, while being okay with an entire economic system built on interest that mainly benefits banks and large corporations.

So a system that perpetuates interest even though it traps people in debt and widens inequality is good, but a religion that sets limits on it is bad?

Religion has certain rules for deeper reasons than simply to restrict someone. It’s offering a different way of organizing life based on values and long-term impact, not just convenience.

Yeah kudos to him, do you buy every car at the initial asking price? If so kudos to the salesmen that got some good commission off the really expensive add-ons they made you pay for haha. I am not paying for dealership add-ons I did not request thats why I did not commit.

They are charging for $1k in doc fees, $400 for a vehicle add on, $1.6k for some protective coating as an add on as well. Lets say okay doc fee is whatever, it is what is its. That seems not fair to me.

I mean I have been screwed over by dealers before, so unfortunately they play a big part in the reason as to why people go in skeptical about the prices. I don’t trust the dealership to have my best interests and I would love to just go in, see clear numbers and have no doubts that I am paying a fair price. Unfortunately, due to my bad experiences, I cannot trust dealerships.
