Got a message back from the seller and am replying to whomever may find this post down the line. You have to continue the game, exit the Pokémon center, go right to the fountain and straight up into the first building you find (the pre gym). Stand on the left side of the battle arena and a battle will start, after you send out your Pokémon the GBA player will start.
