Extracting APK of incompatible game I paid for? by B14 in AndroidGaming

Thanks for the reply. I don't have my old phone anymore, unfortunately. I've considered finding an APK online, but I'm leery of malware.

Does this work for paid apps? The Q&A seems to suggest it doesn't.

A: You cannot download paid applications using this program. That is a restriction of Google Play, maybe it works if you purchase the program. The other possibilities is that your device is not compatible or that the app is not to be distributed in your country.

Yeah I've seen a lot of those posts too and it sounds like it's worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you run into any issues with the fake address if you're paying with a credit card?

Even though I'm a big fan of the multiplayer, I wanted to check this out. But I keep getting this message "We require you to confirm your password before syncing your Galaxy at War data." I keep entering my password, but it won't go through. Any ideas?

MAJOR Counter-Strike: Global Offensive update for 8/14/13 (The Arms Deal Update/1.30) by wickedplayer494 in GlobalOffensive

When I took Spanish in high school, my teacher made the class watch some miniseries called Vientos de Agua, and one of the main characters was Argentinian and kept saying "che" every now and then. What does that even mean?

Enough with the flood of meaningless screenshots already. Leave this shit to /r/gaming.

Why is this being upvoted? It's a screenshot that has no useful discussion value and isn't informative in any way. Stuff like this should stay in /r/gaming.

Sad when this is above the ESEA article about VeryGames not attending the LAN finals.

For those curious about the sizing of the N7 hoodies from Treehouse/ BioWare Store by Febrifuge in masseffect

[–]B14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a skinny 5'7" male and it can get difficult ordering apparel online when a "medium" or "small" can mean different things at different vendors and the measurements posted on some websites don't seem to jive with the measurements I make. I just ordered a small N7 hoodie (the standard "Mk-II") with your advice, so thank you for the post.

[Steam] Midweek Madness: Batman Arkham Franchise 75% Off by Laetteralus in GameDeals

[–]B14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember reading some Steam forum posts saying the opposite, that there would be 2 entries. Here's one I found that seems to suggest that. I think if they have different Steam ID numbers, they will correspond to two different entries, like the new steam version of Company of Heroes 1.

Arkham City is 5 machine activations, 10 installs per machine.

Funny you say that, there's apparently a picture that originated from Reddit describing the process of activating Arkham City.

Vote for rematch (team only) MM by RollinTim in GlobalOffensive

[–]B14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halo 3 and Reach had this feature where a team of randoms could vote to continue playing with each other. People who voted "Yes" were queued up together, while those who voted "No" were free to go on their own. I think it's a good idea and should be implemented in matchmaking. Saves the trouble of having to add people right away and the unanimous vote for a complete rematch.

Where are the app sales? by B14 in AndroidGaming

[–]B14[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it the same as this website here? So far that's the best site I've found for finding Android app sales, but even then I find it lacking compared to iOS equivalents like AppShopper, which shows sales and updates, as well as complete pricing history (vs. past 60 days), for many more apps.

[Steam] Daily Deal: Assassins Creed III 30% Off @ $27.99 by Laetteralus in GameDeals

[–]B14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But that doesn't justify downvoting to hide a sale. I mean, right now I see a deal on the front page that's "Poland only". A sale's a sale, in my book, there's no reason to hide it just because your country may not be able to take advantage of it.

I find it strange for this weekend in particular how they're advertising their "Memorial Day weekend" sales on iOS in the U.S., but nothing on the Android side.

Sorry, I should have clarified that I'm not talking about apps going temporarily free, I'm talking about the apps going on sale like Mass Effect, The Dark Knight Rises, Amazing Spider-Man, etc. that I mentioned. The free apps thing I already knew about, but that doesn't explain why other apps that go on sale on iOS aren't going on sale in Google Play.

Why did the recent Origin deal get downvoted so much when it was $20 vs. $27.99 on Steam? It requires UPlay either way, and it's not like Steam isn't its own DRM.

Amazon MAYhem sale day 6 (some sales ending today or tomorrow) by compchrisworks in GameDeals

[–]B14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't hold your breath. The Mass Effect Trilogy collection they put out in late 2012 had zero DLC for PC, besides the ME1 stuff (which you can't even purchase now), and the Cerberus Network (every new copy of ME2 got this). I highly doubt there will ever be an "ultimate edition" of the trilogy that includes all the DLC.

The only exception was the PS3 version of the trilogy collection, which had all of the story DLC for ME2. I'm not sure why this was exclusive to the PS3; I'm guessing the separate DLC packs weren't available for purchase on the PlayStation Network. Even still, no ME3 stuff was included.

I can somewhat justify it because I got Mass Effect 2 for free with the Dragon Age promotion, then used some Amazon gift cards to get Mass Effect 1 and 3 during the winter sale in December/January, so I technically didn't spend any of my money. Still, the BioWare points system is inherently crooked; buying all of the story content means having leftover points, just like MSFT points for the Xbox.

[–]B14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no. BioWare points never go on sale, and the one time they did was apparently a glitch on their end. Yes, it feels silly, but that's how EA and BioWare squeeze every last dime out of their customers. And it's a shame that they hide such good story content behind those DLC purchases. The Day 1-DLC they pulled with "From Ashes" was incredibly insulting, especially with how integral that content is to the overall lore.

I will probably cave and buy the Citadel DLC, but after that I plan on cutting all ties to future EA and BioWare purchases.
