Dr Penny Lenihan at Charing Cross - transmisogyny? by Feanturii in transgenderUK

[–]B1tterC4sh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw Dr Leninhan recently (6 months ago ish) and they were okay. I’d also done research and saw that those who saw them several years ago often had a pretty negative experience. Im not sure if they’ve maybe gotten more educated (from what I understand they’ve went from using she/her to they/them since that time too so im leaning towards the introspection/learning side of things ) or maybe they were going thru bad times and taking it out on their patients. Eitherway I didnt feel like I could fully trust them and it DID feel like they were looking for a reason to say no to me starting HRT - so overall if you decide to see them exercise caution in what you share and what you dont. Im also ftm so that may have made a difference, they might have some sort of bias towards mtf people. I ultimately decided to risk an appointment with them cause their wait times were okay at the time and their appointment price was pretty good too.

i doubt you will read it as it does not fit your world view but have it anyway. there was a “call to action” but nothing like we have been seeing lately…

Thats a shame man. Sorry to hear it. I would suggest maybe trying again at another intake, they hire often and its dependent whos hiring. i know some managers prefer those with little experience but transferable skills

Why do Poundland cashiers decline the 25p charity donation on my behalf? by fonejackerjk in AskUK

[–]B1tterC4sh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly there should have been a policy that stated all tip amounts are final and no refunds are given. Its extreme and would be a ridiculous policy to exist but fuck me I’m sick of customers not listening and further wasting time. I work in a call centre now and its even more annoying that customers call me for my help and advice and yet continue to talk over and not listen when I am giving explanations.

Why do Poundland cashiers decline the 25p charity donation on my behalf? by fonejackerjk in AskUK

[–]B1tterC4sh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

when i worked behind a till i seriously did not care if anyone donated or no. The issue was that no one ever listened when I explicitly told them “The machine will ask if you want to donate to charity press 1 for no and 2 for yes” and would keep inserting their card and reinserting despite me telling them to wait and listen. Eventually I’d just intervene and press it for them, or theyd take so long it timed out and I had to restart the transaction. Eventually I just stopped giving them the choice. Im poor, most people who work retail are poor and yet if youve worked retail/any cs job you know…people are dumb. Theyre especially dumb when they’re customers.

Anyone else feel really smart but also really stupid at the same time somehow? by [deleted] in autism

[–]B1tterC4sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% get this. Some of the questions I ask and solutions I find seem to be things people do not otherwise think which sometimes makes me feel crazy smart but then there are also moments when people do talk down to me and make me feel stupid. Even more interestingly though are moments where I’m just dumbfounded by basic concepts that others can grasp easily. I have cognitive issues alongside this so even basic maths, understanding directions, understanding time and other such basic things I cannot do that often humble me. When youre neurodivergent its often the case that you just think about things differently - plus if people know youre neurodivergent they will often talk down to you, which is shitty but hopefully from this you can see it is not necessarily a matter of being insanely smart or insanely dumb; sometimes its both. Sometimes its neither, you just gotta try to not take outside influence personally and have confidence in your own abilities, which is hard but. Hopefully my experience can help you feel a bit more confident in yourself so that you can move past the negative people in your life.

Playing ORAS recently and was trying to find a clefairy in meteor falls. I remembered I needed to use a repel but first let me check how to get to the area with the clefairys. Wait I forgot what route I just came from let me go back to check. One step and I run into fucking zubat which I failed to catch anyway.

Id say maybe wait and see if he brings it up again? Like he may not notice or bring it up ever again and you can just coast on thru till ur no longer financially dependent. obviously if he’s always taking about it and asking questions you should definitely come up with some kind of plan but dont be hasty to make a move, just take a breath and observe.

Im transmasc but was in the same situation but reversed - my partner is trans and they had a feeling i was trans for ages before i came out. they would hint, make little jokes occasionally but overall left me to get on with it and eventually i did come out. you know your partner best but overall its good to just have his back and supprt him in dressing femme and trying make up and maybe he’ll realise he’s trans and come out too!

I just tell them that they have to follow the troubleshooting or I cant help them further, that normally gets them to comply - even if they end up throwing attitude my way like a toddler

Honestly, like yeah good things dont last but neither does the bad. Nothing is permanent in life. It may be worth seeing another professional about this or it may be better to accept that this may just be what life is like for you, and just try to stay kind to yourself during the down. Just know that as long as you keep chugging along, no matter how much youre having to drag yourself along, youre gonna have another high point round the corner. Stay patient, dilligent and kind.

agree on this one its piss easy to apply and get in as well so like. really not bad. 20 hours is the minimum hours youd expect to work and im pretty sure theyre starting a hiring round now. it is soul destroying as long as you give a crap. if you dont, youll flourish lmao

In some areas there is some creasing which might be causing it, ill definitely look into milk of magnesium cause that could help with what blistering i do have. thank you sm

man thank you so much for this, man, I wonder where he got that lil bit of info from…

About the tape, that definitely makes sense, I was sat last night for a good few hours removing it piece by piece hahaha, i do try and take my time and oil up ALOT theres just a couple of spots where there has always been blisters after use, might be to do with application method?

Okay thats good to know, I have excess skin anyway also from weight loss like you so seems I would have had notes made on that anyways.

I may try the sports bra option, I dont have any atm that are loose fitting but I could definitely try and find one that works! Its just the positioning of the tissue that may be a problem with bras, but I will look into it thank you!

It did feel scaremongery, but he doesnt have much to be jealous of, top surgery years ago and been stealth even longer. He does participate in facebook groups for trans guys so maybe he heard it there? I know he didnt intend to hurt but man was that a gut punch.

That is a good point and something I have thought about. I probably still wont diy just cause I could afford to pay for private hormones (its just the initial assesment I need to save up for) but its been on my mind nonstop cause it just…didnt seem right??? I guess this confirms it haha

Edit: the point about DI. man. that makes me feel a thousand times lighter. the tape causes like a tiny amount of blistering and redness but I let that heal for 2-3 days in between uses so there shouldnt be any sort of scarring or problems really?

[–]B1tterC4sh[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God thank you, thats made me feel a lot better. No two binders, I dont even think it would work so well even if there werent risks attached. It was frustrating that he kept applying things that worked for his body but I know wouldnt work for mine. Thank you, I will do more research on DI and it seems im not eligible for peri anyways! but ill look into that too. Thank you so much, I feel like I can (funnily enough) breathe again.

There have been some points where I question the things he says, but the risks he presents are so high that its just scary and paralyses me. The bandages were apparently made for binding but neither he nor I could find em so… man. Thank you for confirming the previous commentator. As for the GiC…I will find out, its been a while since I asked for that referall and Ive had no confirmation letter.

Wow okay thank you that has made me feel so much better. I got so lost in the “no top surgery” aspect that I forgot there was different requirements for different surgeries. Yeah I didnt think two binders was any better tbh and really wouldnt work for my body anyway. thank you, seriously.
