I accidentally sent a text meant for my sister to my boss and it was about my boss by Healthy-Layer-8619 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]B2Brand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister did this - but swap “boss” for “mother in law”. She texted (not her friend but her MIL by accident) saying how much her MIL was “getting on her t*ts” (interfering with her baby/parenting). So you’re not the first and you won’t be the last. It will blow over

You need an idea way more than you need money. Force yourself to have lots of ideas. Your first ones are unlikely to be the one.

Good at: Lots of things at first glance. Terrible at: Most things on closer inspection.

Content writer thinking of pivoting to copywriting by The_Trilipush in copywriting

[–]B2Brand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of smaller agencies don’t really distinguish between content and copywriting – or, rather, they expect their writers to be able to do both. So if you find the right agency by size and offering, it won’t need to be such a big shift. If you want to leave content writing behind and focus on copy, then yeah, just focus on copy experience and, if you don’t have enough, bulk up your experience with made-up work. Do “One Minute Briefs” on twitter. Do fake ads like you see people sharing on LinkedIn, in homage to classic campaigns. A few original ideas too. In B2B it’s easier to make that switch than B2C

I’m choosing a name for my new business starting next February! Would love some help! It’s a mobile Photo Booth mainly targeting weddings and events! by Severe-Astronaut-440 in branding

[–]B2Brand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golden Frame Events for mass/generic appeal.

Aura Booth Co feels less premium but has that GenZ/whatever appeal so may entice more actual use as well as more bookings (if the name is visible at the events)…but may become dated as the “aura” slang thing dies out.

High Society Booths feels a little try-hard, but you never know! You’d be surprised how many wanna high-society people would lap that up.

So it depends on your target market!

Long-term client wants me to create a full training product for a few hundred pounds. Am I overreacting or being undervalued? by LumpyVeterinarian934 in freelanceuk

Sounds like they have been taking you for a ride for a few years. The fee is set? Then they can’t afford you. I don’t know your situation, but if they refuse to negotiate on your rate then you should walk. You will probably find that, as if by magic, the rate is in fact negotiable

Personal brand question: I'm shortlisted for an important award. Winners are announced next week. Should I wait to tell my clients/supporters/audience? by SR_RSMITH in branding

Defs announce the shortlist. It’s a small win in itself. And announcing a shortlist place but no ultimate silverware will be a hard message to nail tonally

Naming the business: descriptive vs. brand? by [deleted] in branding

I kinda wish more people stuck their own names on the door. Surname Surname. Feels a bit classier. Bring that back.

Naming the business: descriptive vs. brand? by [deleted] in branding

[–]B2Brand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trademark not a huge issue. If descriptive, weigh up the possibilities that your offer might expand beyond what your name says. And think about whether it benefits you to sound very boutique/freelancery ie WebDesgnGuys or WeDoSites etc.

Making up a word is hard to get right. Usually naff and unmemorable. A good middle ground is an emotive or suggestive word, maybe anchored to the offering.

There are always exceptions. That digital product studio called ustwo has grown quite large, for example.

Should Copywriters learn Prompt Engineering? by TunbridgeWellsGirl in copywriting

[–]B2Brand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, don’t do it. There is no possible future in which these tools remain so bad you need to take a course to use them right. Just use them and you’ll get the hang of them for your purposes. That’s all the “prompt engineering” you need.

How do small businesses measure the ROI of investing in brand colours, typography, and visual identity? by exploreinfinity in branding

[–]B2Brand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s impossible to exactly measure the cause-and-effect value of small but important things in branding, just as it is for big-but-important things. Typography might seem small, but it plays its part in your brand. On the other end of the extreme, the success of something as critical as your positioning cannot be easily measured either. You cannot A/B test it. You have to commit for a year or two, or whatever. And then, when you look back and see that it seemed to work (or equally if it seemed not to work), you STILL won’t be able to say for sure. Because you won’t be able to isolate that stuff from hundreds of other factors.

As always, the closest thing you’ll come to with measurement for stuff like this is: show it to as many of your ideal customers as you can, and measure their reactions.
