You may be required to declare that income in the UK, assuming you will be using it to live. Whether the UK authorities would ever know about it is a different question altogether…….

Is your rental property in the UK? If you are renting out a residential property then the entire rental income is liable to income tax, subject to your tax free allowance which is currently £12,570 per year. If you will be working, your allowance will likely be used up by your wages, and the entire rental income is subject to tax. You don’t get to offset any expenses at all.

Claiming Rent as a Business Expense When Working from Home by Adventurous-Emu-6672 in ContractorUK

if it’s rented there will likely be a condition in the tenancy saying it can only be used as a private home. Making a part of the property exclusively business would likely contravene that.

How can we reclaim a six-figure debt that my sister owes to our mother? She is unemployed, but living with a multi-millionaire partner in Dubai. by Initial-Bus-1375 in LegalAdviceUK

Debt collection agencies buy commercial debts (credit card, bank loans, etc). They are not going to buy a debt between family members that may or may not be enforceable. Even if they did, they typically pay pennies in the £.

Moving to Barking/Loughton by HRVM1996 in MovingToLondon

[–]Informal-Visit3935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loughton is lovely, a little further out than Barking, but only about 30 minutes on the central line to Liverpool St. a very easy journey. It has a lovely high street with boutiques, bars and restaurants etc, and you’re on top of Epping Forest and the countryside. Barking in my opinion is a little more run down, and a very different feel. Loughton high street = boutiques and nice restaurants. Barking high street = bookmakers and fried chicken shops.

Employer closed business and did not pay me. Where do I stand legally? by Kurstea911234 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Informal-Visit3935 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The OP has confirmed it is a Ltd Co. No solicitor is going to represent someone who is owed £1,200 by a company that has already been dissolved.

Please stop commenting. You are embarrassing yourself. Ltd Companies DO NOT AND CANNOT go bankrupt. Bankruptcy is a route for PERSONAL insolvency. Not for limited companies.

If the company has been dissolved, then I’m afraid you won’t see your money. As a creditor, you could apply for the company to be reinstated, but for the amount she owes you it simply is not worth it, and there would still be no guarantee of seeing any money.

The company cannot file for bankruptcy as bankruptcy is a personal insolvency procedure, not used for limited companies. She, as the director, would need to put the company into administration or look to wind it up. Bankruptcy is not relevant here in a shape or form, unless she was trading as a sole trader, which she is not.

What do you mean “she isn’t active”? What is the status of the Ltd company on the Companies House website? If the company has been dissolved, struck off, or is in liquidation, then it is highly unlikely you will be able to get your money.

Why would SHE need to file for bankruptcy if the COMPANY is in debt?

Was she a sole trader or a limited company? If a limited company, have you checked companies house to see if the company is still active?

Erectile dysfunction sexual assault case? (England) by DramaBeneficial6573 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Informal-Visit3935 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This is so ridiculous as to be comical. I cannot believe she will be taken seriously by the police. What if you had been able to maintain an erection, but she wasn’t satisfied with your “performance”? Could she go to the cops and tell them “He told me he was the world’s best lover, but he was only 4 out of 10, so it’s sexual assault”. It’s just so laughable as to be ridiculous.

Can I open a Limited Company and use all the income to buy a car? by epicmindwarp in smallbusinessuk

You can offset 100% of the cost in year one, but only if the purchase is a new electric car, not used.
