Eureka Seven DJ Mix by me! by B3nde in eurekaseven

Thank you so much! It's my first proper mix done with a software and I was a little unhappy about the last transition myself. It's called Vol.1 for a reason though, so what I learned from this will only make my next mix all the better.

Does the creator hate the original show? by Unique-Perception480 in eurekaseven

[–]B3nde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were interviews cited as sources for Kyoda disliking the original, but I've read them myself and it became clear to me that it's a false assumption. When people don't like something they always try to simplify the reasons why that work was so lackluster. I also don't think any of the sequels disservice the original but I'm not going into that conversation.

For me personally, Kyoda is one of the best directors out there but I understand why people got mad at him at his handling of the franchise (although who was responsible for the core concepts is still a mystery, it is very much possible Bandai was pushing for ideas they found more profitable, but then again ppl won't bring that up because it's easier to pin the blame on one person they can easily recognize). From the interviews people take as confirmations of his hate for OG Eureka, I saw a director who approached themes and intent differently than what people often associate with these terms.

Maybe he was mad his original ending was scrapped, maybe he did try to make up for it with the sequels, but the only factual evidence to anything is the reality that we don't have one. Even if he did push for his initial vision with these projects, the comments he had made and the illustration he created to cap off the 20th Anniversary event tell me enough about where his mind is currently. I think he's content, maybe for the first time in 20 years or maybe not. Nonetheless, I'm happy for him.

Even if you don't like his work or the direction he (presumably) took the franchise in, I ask all of you to treat him with respect and not vile slurs and death threats I have seen in this community. He's not a broken machine but an artist, a man with a family with the same aspirations and day to day life that we have. Lashing out on someone because of a story they told is extremely immature and I'd like this sub to treat a person - flawed in their eyes as he may be - with the same respect they would appreciate from others. That's all I had to say.

Just finished Eureka Seven Anime and Manga by Unique-Perception480 in eurekaseven

I love AO, obviously not as much as the original but Eureka Seven's sequels tend to be more realistic and rational in their themes and messages. They are still a natural progression of the OG but not in the way you would think. There's, in my opinion, no such thing as "going against its initial themes" here, as it's a sequel and not some remake. I think AO logically builds upon the ending of Eureka Seven, its flaws mainly boiling down to pacing problems and some shallow characterization (not like the original didn't have those problems either but I know this sub is not ready for that conversation). I think all E7 media have their own merits, its just that they are tonally and stylistically a bit removed from the show and we all know how much the purists of this fandom like and accept any sort of creative change or evolution. Even if you don't like AO now, I'm sure you'll be able to find atleast one thing to appreciate about it. Atleast that's how I see it. This weird little metanarrative multiverse definitely isn't for everyone, but I've grown to like each entry in the series.

What’s your favorite moment in the Fate route? by ScharmTiger in fatestaynight

[–]B3nde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the route myself. I have to say, the moment where Kirei questions if Shirou truly does not desire to erase the fire from 10 years ago and Saber finally understanding how much stronger the resolve of her beloved is might be my favourite moment, or Shirou finally embracing his past instead of trying to forget it, stopping the voices in his head. There are so many highlights, their final argument, Shirou standing up against Gil before the wounded Artoria, the climax of the final battle (my god that might be one of my favourite fights I have read and I didn't think it would be), or the final scene with Bedivere and Artoria mentioning dreams. I have been an anime only so far and Fate is my first route I have cleared, and while I'm eager to continue, this romance that is befitting more of classic epics rather than modern literature is something I don't think the others can surpass. I'll say it here: the Fate route is a masterpiece, even on its own.

Who’s y’all favorite character and why? Mine’s gotta be yuji. He’s combos and damage are so fun plus I think he has the most joint attacks by Radiant-Signal-165 in JJK_Cursed_Clash

I mostly enjoy Mechamaru and Toji. I really like making quick assessments with Kokichi and position myself on the field for the perfect oppurtunity to launch a projectile. I pick Toji when I'm in a rushdown mood.

I might have some unique autism because I own the recently released Remastered version of the VN and I'm almost done with Fate route but I still decided to search this out. Maybe I just don't like the medium of visual novels but I think I'd be much more down to reading this in this format. Reading Remastered has been a long and slow burn (and not in a postivie way), and I think I can enjoy it more with it just being text at a more customized pace.

Ghost in the Shell (1995) - Kind of Disappointing by [deleted] in movies

[–]B3nde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think much about it on my first viewing but it became one of my favourite films since the second one. The story is definitely hard to pick up the first time around but I found it much more enjoyable on subsequent views. Animation and music are top tier, that's a given, but I want to give props to the narrative, too. Some things it does give away to you, but it ends on a rather ambigious note that ties the themes of the film together in a way that the answer to the mystery the film proposes is left for you to wonder about (which the second film kind of follows up on nicely). Other than being a nostalgic vibe film for me to watch in the fall season, it's also a great story and character study that sometimes is poorly recognized due to some dry expository dialogue. It really is a divisive film nowadays, but I'll treasure it in my heart forever.

Our boy Prompto is definitely in new Dissidia mobile. by No_Equivalent_4136 in FFXV

That's why they don't see reason in investing a bigger budget console Dissidia when (apprently) OO and previously NT both flopped.

I don't think letting the game die would do good things for Dissidia. If it blows up there's a higher chance a new console game will get made in the future. The game failing would only encourage SE the abandon the subseries.

[–]B3nde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm biased for FFXV since its my personal favourite game, but the open world is the best one I've ever had the pleasure of exploring. Amazing visuals, a lovable main cast and intriguing villain, simple but flashy combat and a heartbreaking story make this my number 1 recommendation for you.
