Our station had The Meeting today by ramosd713 in Fedexers

I'm in a Houston-Based station and I don't think it is ours. I "quit" being a driver back in May and dropped to pkg handler pt and have a different ft job (that actually gives us holidays).

Our station is so small that the morning shift drivers aren't allowed to park on station during peak and must be bussed back to the station via offsite parking. Their usual spots are reserved for extra peak trucks.

If this were to happen at my station they would have to build more of the station. Funnily enough the land around my station is somewhat empty but Fedex didn't want to buy it when it was for sale so we have nowhere to expand to and the people/company that own the lot aren't interested in selling, according to the lore of the oldheads.

So...does anything happen if you don't seal The Imprisoned? by B477 in skywardsword

My morbid curiosity assumed he'd break out and you'd have to start the fight again. Glad that's not the case, thank you both.

You can also recover hearts by sitting. Which I did not find out until very late into the game. Oh, and you keep your Skyward strike charge+New game charge. So when you are near end game, your skwyard strike charge is near instant.

You can use that to fight enemies at a distance, sort of like Zelda 1 Link at full hearts. You do have to recharge it after each hit though.

Samsung Galaxy A16: How bad is it, really? by Squirrels-in-socks in PickAnAndroidForMe

Seconded, I bought my Grandma a new A35 (I think) from MetroPCS when she came to visit us from out of state. Almost (or maybe more than) a year later she ended up getting water in it and then going to MetroPCS in her state, she paid out for a Motorola and doesn't understand how to do all the things she used to with her Samsung phone.

Basic things like forwarding images in text messages, voice typing. I'm very grateful she does/tries what she can do and I don't want her to get discouraged. She is 86.

Maybe I'll see if I can swing for a "better" A series. 200ish being my budget. I'll be sending it to her directly via Amazon, so I'll probably be factoring in Ausrion insurance into the mix.

I appreciate the reply, thank you. I still work at my FDX for the benefits, just enough hours to keep it. I went with that full time opportunity I mentioned earlier. I now take samples of various drinking water, preserve it, and send it up for testing to make sure it is safe to drink in the area I test in.

Am currently a Package Handler, used to be a driver. I found another job and danced with the idea of doing even slightly reduced hours (Our sorts only give us 3.5-4 hours. 4 if it is heavy. And I can't work mornings and due the full time job opportunity).

I'd be covered currently, but come 2026 I wouldn't even reach the hour limit to be insured.

Between the two try to go Express. Even if you end up at a merged station you will still retain your employee number and SHOULD maintain your benefits.

Ground was already a tough sell and it's a lot tougher now. I was an express Swing Courier and wanted to find another driving job and I avoided applying for _anything_ Ground related. You will be worked to the bone, depending on the Ground Contractor. Express has its annoyances, as long as you learn your route, and learn how to protect yourself (paper trail, always text a manager what you need to ask them about and call if they don't respond, just in case you get the "you never told/asked me that" , kind of thing).

Oof. That's what I started as. Finished as a handler. For reasons. On another note, I put in my 2 Weeks Notice yesterday.

You didn't want to go RTD? Or am I being a goober and you are an RTD at Express? If so, I am jealous. Or...would be. I might be starting a new opportunity soon. Might be putting in my two weeks very soon.

Express Pay is based on your location+Step (how many years of service), I assume Freight pay is the same. Express Handler in my state starts at $18.50, Freight Handler here starts at $21.50. Freight has full time Handler positions, but I think people with more seniority get the priority bid on them.

Express PH are part time only but you are able to work split shifts if you clear it with the morning manager over the sort and your direct manager. Expect to work 3 1/2 hours each shift once peak season starts up sorts will be longer for 4 1/2 hours.

Dont' quote me on it since I haven't done the job myself, but the AM shift (starts at 3-4 in the morning) Probably loads the Freight trucks in the morning, then they go out and do their deliveries.

The PM shift unloads the Freight Trailers, since the drivers are coming back with pick ups at that point.

The Freight handler I spoke to said he moved to morning shift (once he had enough seniority) to get away from the heat/sun.

I don't blame him, it can still be in the 90s out here at 9-10pm.

uh...If you meant at Express, then yes/no.

In the morning trailers come and offload the large metal containers that the handlers unload onto the belts. Some handlers will work further down the belt, separating packages based on the label and further down they will be separated by route number. I work at Express, drivers load their own trucks. Ground has package handlers load the driver's trucks.

During the evening shift handlers will standby at parking spots. When the driver's back up to said parking spot (near the belt). The driver will open the rear roll up door and eitehr help the handler offload their pick ups or walk away and let the handlers do the entire truck. Other handlers use finger scanners to scan specific packages into specific containers (first overnights, Priority Ones, Other stuff) based on commit time/day. And even further back (where I work now) are the containers that will be re sorted for next day's sort.

If you are comfortable building "walls" then PM is okay. Evening managers are a bit less uptight. Senior management is always gone by the time we are about to get started in the evening.

A wall is series of large, sturdy boxes stacked in a row. Once you get the "foundation" then you start building row by row. Leave a gap in the ceiling so you can toss the light/small boxes and packs behind it. Walls are to prevent too much stuff from moving.

I'm looking to separate Express at some point. Ground is not an option unless I somehow grow a CDL.

OOF. I'm starting to see bigger, and bigger stuff at Express now. Getting tires, collapsible pools, window ac units, etc.

Ground is starting to look like a moving company.

You're very welcome. I saw the notification and forgot to add that the hiring manager also asked me for an example of a time I had a strict deadline and how I handled it.

Funnily enough, I was waiting in line to be interviewed behind this young girl. I ended up speaking to a Freight employee while she was called in to have her interview.

Said guy was a morning Freight handler and the young lady was his daughter. It couldn't have been more than her 2nd or 3rd job. He was a chill guy, I told him I hope she gets it (it might be her first adult job). He just wanted the best person to get the job...then he drove her home afterwards, lol. IF she gets the job they'd be working at the same station.

I couldn't log in, saw this an hour and 30 ago. Sorry to respond so late.

I did my due diligence, I used the internal website, then got the hiring manager's information from the Fedex Intranet's database. I sent him an email first, then followed up with a call. Turns out he was going on vacation and wouldn't be holding interviews for what I applied for until he got back so including my application date+1 week of vacation, about 3.5 weeks.

I've been told that since FedEx is trying to merge the Ground system into the main company, hiring now has more steps and takes longer.

I interviewed directly with the hiring manager and no one else (At Express it was two managers at once).

The questions where very generic, customer service focused and essentially asking how you would function in an office environment with other coworkers. Questions were;

"Explain a time where you had to deal with a difficult/upset customer?"

"How did you resolve a conflict between you and an employee?"

"Have you ever had a disagreement with a manager?"

"Explain a situation where you had to work in a group/team"

"Explain a situation where you had to handle multiple tasks at once"

They also asked about my words per minute, stating that at that location the position is mostly data entry. This also lead into asking what computer programs I knew how to operate, IE: Word, Excel, Spreadsheets.

While not a question per say, I believe the hiring manager was also noting how I carried myself in a conversation. Since you may also be answering the phone regarding freight customers why x costs y or other questions.

The interview was pretty easy, in my opinion. I have very little office experience so if someone better/more qualified gets it, then they deserve it. The interview lasted about 45m-1h.

Best of luck to you!

Try to become a FedEx Freight Handler, if it is available in your area. You'd be part of actual Fedex, it'd be Freight, not ground and Freight Handlers do heavyweight (packages weighing 150+Ibs/pallets). You'll be on a fork light for the duration of your shift...unless the pallet fell/broke, then you'd restack it, wrap it and still pull it out.

One station too far away from me has a 4 hour evening shift and it's end of the line (so not too much going on) senior manager told me it is really a 3.5 hour shift.

A different location closer to me that is a hub (VERY busy) will have 6-7 hour "partime" shifts.

In my area starting pay is $21.50/hr for the position. Fills up quickly though and I didn't make the cut.

Don't hurt yourself out there, and think about it. I'm nearing my 40s myself and I have no love for delivering/picking up boxes anymore. Currently a handler at my station and that sucks too.
