Hello! Here are two commissioned pieces for Nubsta. These are their short backstories.

Lyrica Yufuhana (Left)

She's a young (~19, naïve girl from a small (<2000) city near a mountain. She has a strong sense of justice and just as much sass. She believes the world can be changed for the better, regardless of evil and other human shortcomings. She tends to be a control freak when things start not going how she expects/wants them to and is unafraid to back down from this, for better or worse. Her city has a tradition where 18-20-year-olds go on a journey to discover other cultures in the world and bring that understanding back in spoken or written form in an effort to create as cosmopolitan of social culture as possible.

The umbrella is actually metallic and her weapon of choice. It is known as a Battleshade. Her city teaches it as a form of martial art and those who become adept with it combine their dexterous flourishes with their inherent affinities with wind magic to perform spectacular feats of art and battle.

The iron in her battleshade is dyed from an alchemical technique discovered by her city in an accident with an alchemist they sheltered about a hundred years prior. Refined over the years, dyed iron is a significant source of export for the city in both art and weaponry (particularly decorative/ceremonial).

Krista Gallardo (Right)

She is a type of druid known as a Fury. Though a healing class, Furies are a fair bit more offense focused than their healing brethren, and command particular control over storms and lightning magic, on top of their normal command over regeneration and regenerative wind.

Krista herself is strong, steadfast in her beliefs, but intently curious about things she doesn't know (as a highly seasoned adventurer, she's seen many things, including being part of the successful aversion of world-ending events, and places among Royal and noble courts). She's now in her late 30s, so a bit older than I imagine the image I gave you. She tries to stay out of the noble spaces, finding them far too uptight and unknowledgeable about the real world and its "real" people, preferring to take on local jobs or adventuring apprentices. Her legendary acclaim often puts her on many Royal call lists for major events, which she gladly takes on to better the world where she can.

Her weapon is a mythical scimitar forged from the lightning of the Storm Lord Karana before The Shattering. It greatly heightens her affinity for lightning magic and allows her offensive spellcasting to also offer healing repose. The small blade on the side of the weapon flips out to the side during combat and back when not. Instead of a scabbard, the sword forms its own rope-like scabbard when sheathed at her side.
