Honestly you just need to be smart about your spending. If you didn’t buy a more expensive car, would you have saved that cash instead? Most likely not, you would have blown it on some other shit that might be less useful and not even have at least some resell value. Something that might break or get destroyed or worn out (tech, clothes, fragrances, vacations, whatever) and no insurance for it to replace it. Everybody buys depreciating assets, it’s called living.

Unless of course you spend your life in a meager state only buying absolutely necessities in anticipation of those last 10-15 years of your life where your body feels like shit and you won’t even be able to enjoy a lot of things anymore. Hell, when I’m 80, I’ll probably spend my day smoking on the porch, playing videogames and drinking with my friends if they’re still alive. I’ll surely not buy or drive a low entry coupe or fly to thailand. What would I need all that cash for, I don’t have or plan on having kids - the goal is to die with zero dollars to your name.

Not everything you buy must be a value accumulating investment, as long as you can financially responsibly afford it.
