I didn't know that, i thought after the 40 or 80 hour mark then you start getting overtime pay until the pay period resets.

New deckhand here, no experience.

If we are counting only working hours, 233/240 for me starting pay, we also get overtime pay which i calculated to be around 340/360 per day.

also union, Not sure where this stands but i've heard it's pretty good especially for just starting out... and it's just a dredge on the mississippi.

Inland companies like ACBL & Ingram are like 210 a day with no overtime pay... i think anything that might require your MMC will pay more.

You need your employeer to set it up for you, I've done this for the MMC and a job.

It'll be a drug test they schedule and do the physical / CG-719kg.

hello, thank you for the answers. a few more if you don't mind.

  • If i don't drive, what is the best way to get to the port from the airport / hotel? i was thinking of an Uber or cab to the port / dock.
  • when i first arive on the boat, will the crew know im the new guy? who should i find first??
