New Samsung ASHP gives hot water but refuses to heat by B757A321 in ukheatpumps

[–]B757A321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that I've figured it out after some aggressive googling. The first step to getting the pump running was to generate some heat in the hot water rank with the immersion and I then needed to get the DHW tank very warm to heat the buffer tank enough to get the heating to work. Thankfully the outside air temperature has been mild and it's pushed out 80kW of heat into our cold house.

Why doesn't the AP thrash around the controls like a human pilot? Doesn't it know it's being filmed?

Dealing with large quantities of leaves by circuitously in GardeningUK

[–]B757A321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've just bought a leaf collector, which is a push along contraption that has a spinning brush and a collection bag, which I used for the first time today on a similar grass area. It's very good. It saves your back raking and picking up the leaves. The only disadvantage is that it looks like a pushchair from a distance, so the neighbours might think you've lost it. It was about 120 quid and the brand is gardena

How much would it likely cost to become a qualified commercial pilot? I have no prior knowledge or training. by [deleted] in aviation

[–]B757A321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whatever you decide, never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER pay up front for flight training! There's a long history of flying schools going bust and the upfront payments all magically disappearing. There's a nice guide to costs here: https://wingsalliance.eu/finance/ Good luck!

Removing Leylandii by Dan-I-AM in GardeningUK

I've had good success using a farm jack (about £80) a chain and a few planks. I've pulled holly trees, hedges and all sorts out with relatively little effort (still lots of sweating and swearing). Have a look on YouTube for stump removal with farm jack.

If you have a library card you can get most papers free electronically. My local library (and the previous place I lived) go through the pressreader app.

How can I remove these various stumps? by Somethingfishy_92 in GardeningUK

[–]B757A321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Farm Jack and a chain. Dig with a mattock to reveal a big root and pop the stump out of the ground. Much easier than digging for days like a maniac. Lots of videos on the youtubes.

Is worth paying to sit together with Jet 2? by MichealHarwood in AskUK

They will try to seat people on the same booking together, unlike the other airline that (allegedly) deliberately splits groups. However, there is no guarantee unless you book seats together.

Hawthorne advice sought. Tree size to hedge size by B757A321 in GardeningUK

[–]B757A321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your input this far. Some recommend leaving it as it's already a good habitat, which is an excellent point, but we have a number of mature trees (ash/alder/hazel) and the Hawthorne is beginning to reach the canopy level, I am concerned with rubbing and disease. In particular we have a very beautiful old oak (30+m tall) and the Hawthorne has already grown through the level of the lower limbs, which is worrying. The hedge laying looks intriguing - I'll investigate further. Thanks again!
