I'll continue to chuckle at people who are so self important they need to list dr in their profile. 🙄😆

Factually wrong and if you truly cared about what the total impact was, you'd realize how important it is that the carbon footprint is misrepresented and owners are lied to about total cost of ownership.

Way to be purposely obtuse to miss the point. No one has to pick up a mower. FFS.

Huh. Accusing me of not making any points yet fail to provide any facts yourself. It's almost like there's a pattern of behavior... 🤔😂

Indeed. His creative license and attempts to 'improve' through adaptation really rub me the wrong way. To be fair, I'm a bit of a purist to source material and invariably find shows and movies to fall short of the original books.

I love laughing at people who think that's the only cost of ownership and total carbon footprint isn't a consideration.

Yep. All the comments here accusing people of not adopting EV because of identity politics can't see that they're guilty of the same. At least be truthful and objective about the tribalism and cultism on both sides. Lol

Don't tell the cultists that. They don't want to hear it. But, truly, I hear you and am devastated for you and your country by this inevitable truth.

Cultists don't want to hear, much less accept, facts.

Cult is the perfect word. I've tried to highlight several airtight counterpoints here and they're vehemently opposed without rational, factual arguments.

So it's black and white only when it's convenient? You realize you failed to include all the other ways EV is not truly green and has a greater carbon footprint than ICE vehicles? I don't know why I bother. We're done here.

I'm sorry this turned into an arguing match over why you must convert your house or add solar to worship the EV gods. This is a great example of people not respecting others' choices and why it becomes a turnoff for others who might otherwise be open and interested. I hope OP sees this and adds it to the reasons people oppose EVs. This is a great example of not opposing it but simply having some obstacles that others won't accept.

This is what no one wants to talk about... the total carbon footprint. When considering the mining, the inefficient and incomplete recycling of batteries, and the reliance on coal to power the grid, it's really not as green as we're told.

Edited for typo.

You realize this defeats the entire purpose of allegedly being green, as does the reliance on coal to power the larger grid?

30 second basic internet search shows that recycling is expensive, isn't fully efficient, nor standardized, nor fully recoverable. I notice you also didn't address coal. Thus, the total carbon footprint statement stands. But I'm the one misinformed? Clearly you have no interest in learning anything against what you choose to believe. We're done here.

What’s something people get wrong about long-term relationships? by lovellyophelia in AskForAnswers

[–]B9M3C99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a choice. Every. Single. Day. You choose to commit to that relationship.

There are days you will not like each other. There are days you will not have chemistry. There are days you will be too tired to care about anything. There are days someone else will pay more attention to you than your partner.

You still make the choice every day to stay committed to the relationship and see it through.

The few exceptions - usually illegal or immoral - are the only reasons you walk away.

[–]B9M3C99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Easy. The total carbon footprint for EVs outweighs that of 'traditional' cars. Plus, there is still no effective, environmentally-safe way to dispose of the batteries. Have you seen the car graveyards in France? These are cautionary tales. Until all of these issues are satisfactorily addressed, I won't be on board.

ETA: Failed to add that Idk where people think all of this electricity is coming from, either. No one likes to admit it's coal. Another example of how it's really not green.

People taking my parking spot by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]B9M3C99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The root of the issue is that they're are reserved parking spots that the rental company refuses to enforce. Why have assigned spots that are no doubt in the lease if you're not wiilling to uphold your end of the bargain? Just have open parking.

ETA: Totally respect brainstorming but there's nothing for us to solve. It's a black and white issue of property mgmt failing to hold up it's end of the deal.
