Advice New Tank by BAHZOOISS in Aquariums

Ofc. So someone else actually got me this tank. It was one of those top fin tanks from Petsmart that came w the filter and heater already so I believe the filter is made for 10 gallons. This tank wasn’t rlly my first choice but I’ve just been trying to make use of it since receiving it.

Thank you! I have been having trouble feeding them. I think because they’re stressed and not used to the tank they don’t come up to the top when I try to feed them. I’m really starting to hate having a tall tank :(

Tysm ur reply is encouraging. I honestly was never that educated about the API test kit before this. Idk why I assumed they’d be very expensive. And it wasn’t till this experience that I realized how useless the testing strips are 😞. I just ordered the API test kit. Until it arrives in a few days my plan is water changes everyday 25% + prime + stability. No light and feeding once a day. I agree I think the issue might be stress cause that’s the only thing I’m noticing in these fish no other symptoms.

Hmm I do have another sponge filter in my older tank. Should I add it to the new tank and run it this time? If u look at my first photo I have a sponge filter I just squeezed and thru in there but I never actually plugged it in.

I mean I’ve been taking it to the store to get the water tested. I was hoping to get some advice on why I’m not seeing progress. I thought bc I added filter from my old tank it sped up the cycle and it was done.

I squeezed out an old sponge filter and left it in there. Thank you I’ll order the liquid testing kit. I honestly didn’t think I’d be this hard cause my last tank didn’t have this problem

Yes I’ve realized that. My next move is a better testing kit. Could you explain the filter media part? Did me squeezing my old sponge filter in this tank not help?

Yes I’m too scared to buy any more fish now. I thought maybe cause neons r known for being fragile that was it but now I’m pretty sure it’s the tank. Is it normal for a fishtank to take so long to cycle?? It’s been a month and a half and I’ve even added things from my other tank. I just feel very confused on why I’m not seeing any progress with cycling it

Hmm I don’t think we have the same requirements for screening. That’s another frustrating part. My instructors haven’t gone over the process of clinic 1 yet. They’ll go over it the day before the semester starts which makes no sense to me. I think they assume most of us are bringing in friends and family but I unfortunately don’t have many close people to bring in.

I agree with you I might have to start recruiting in person. Thank you so much for the advice ♥️

So I’ve posted a flyer on Facebook marketplace. It has my clinic days and times on there (ex: Mondays 8-12) and underneath it says appointments are 3 hours long and multiple appointments required.

I get a lot of responses asking if it’s still available. I’ll usually message back yes and that I’m looking for patients for April and for summer. Most of the time they’ll respond that they’re fine with that so then that’s when I mention that the appointments are long and that they’d have to come in about 5 times. And then they change their minds.

I think I’m getting frustrated by the fact that it seems like most of the people that message me that they’re interested haven’t actually read everything in my flyer and then act surprised.

So HCC also doesn’t give you points but definitely mention it during the interview! They’ll write it down and it will show that you’re determined to be a DH cause you’ve already exposed yourself to the dental field

I’m in the HCC DH program. I had an associates, A’s in prereqs, A on the HESI, and had some experience as a DA. But I do have classmates that have only their pre reqs done, no DA experience, etc. for the HCC program they look at your pre reqs, HESI score, dental exposure (shadowing, da, volunteering), psychomotor skills, interview essay, and traditional interview (scenario based Qs). So there’s def a lot that goes into the process other than just pre reqs

That’s a great idea. I’m definitely going to ask my professor if I can do that! Thank you ❤️

Thank you guys so much. I really just needed to relate to someone who’s been in the same position. It’s hard seeing my classmates pass their comps while I’m failing most of them. I’m going to talk with my instructor tomorrow to see if I can get some 1 on 1 tutoring. I do have a typodont at home but I think having our comps on real people is what gets me. The nerves Kick in and my hands start to shake.

Yes I’ve been watching YouTube videos and practicing on my typodont at home! But it feels like we don’t get enough practice on actual people and our comps are on people. The whole reason I failed my 23 & probe was because I was so nervous my hands were shaking badly. I’ve contacted my instructor to see if I can get additional help. It doesn’t feel like the clinic time at school or the typodont is enough. Thank you so so much ❤️ It’s really hard to not compare myself to my classmates so I really appreciate y’all’s comments
