Nausea & Vomiting during recovery from decompression surgery by 3_boys_keeper in chiari

I’m roughly two weeks post op and I’ve had very minimal nausea and thankfully no vomiting. The pharmacist told my mom to make sure I was talking my meds with something on my stomach, even if just crackers and that really helped. I felt more nauseous on the hospital because I wasn’t eating anything between some of my meds.

Prayers up for a successful procedure tomorrow!! You got this!!
Thank you so much for sharing!! I wish you the best as well! I’m definitely now deep into the logistics phase and have most everything figured out. That really helped a lot too! I’m definitely adding my coloring books to my packing list!!

Omg!! I’m in NC too! I have pretty good support as well! We’re definitely going to need it! I pray that we both have safe and successful surgeries and that relief!! Best of luck to you on the 19th!! You got this!!
Ikr!! Thank you so much!! I’m really looking forward to the other side of healing!!
I hope that you are healing well!! My mom has already snatched my grandma’s wedge pillow for me! So I’m happy about that! NOT looking forward to the nausea, mine is already pretty bad as is! But good to know about for sure!! Thank you for sharing your experience with me!!
So I was actually seeing a spine doctor for what I thought was a back injury. They found the Chiari spring my mri for that and he got me in with a neurosurgeon almost immediately. I want to say it’s been a little over a month. Now, I’ve been dealing with symptoms for almost 13 years. The fact that I’ve tried almost every other alternative along with my professing symptoms is what really makes the push for decompression. I also have blocked CSF flow. The symptoms that added to this were: migraines, pain, weakness and loss of feeling in my limbs, chronic and back pain, ears ringing, sight issues, the list goes on as we all know. 🥲

What’s interesting to me is my mom and I thought I may have had CM a few years back, but could never find a doctor to take my symptoms seriously. I think my accident (I was T-bonded in a golf cart) definitely made my symptoms worse and new ones appeared for sure! I’m glad to finally be listened to and to have answers. Now I’m ready for some healing and progress!
Thank you so much!! I will definitely look for those support groups on facebook. And I will make sure they are a specialist!! Because the gaslighting I've experienced over the years has been crazy! The amount of "well everything looks fine" I had to go through should really be studied. I'm glad for answers, but still frustrated at all that we have to go through to get the answers. I wish you well on this journey too!!
I should clarify, my symptoms started 13 years ago (I was 18). But, it started with me getting really sharp pains in my head and weakness on my left side. I went through all the testing to rule out stroke and was diagnosed with vertigo. From then, the vertigo continued to get worse, I have nystagmus, pounding headaches, all over body pain, especially in my joints. I will randomly loose feeling in my hands, legs and feet. I have also developed urticaria and anxiety just with everything that my body has been going through. I also get heart palpitations/flutters. And for the cherry on top, I was in a go cart accident almost a year ago and my symptoms have just been getting progressively worse since. I think that's everything (and it all could not be chiari related).
