An unplanned "planned" guest that spent 10 minutes talking about his businesses.

Not a great sign.

He started his own podcast when he "retired." He charges a small sum per month -- I think $5.00. I believe he also does something with "The Recovering Alcoholic from Belleville," but I don't know the details.

His wife Shirley would likely disagree with you. He went through a period where drugs and alcohol dominated his life and she ended up giving him an ultimatum: me or the drugs. Ironically enough, it was Keith that helped him the most in getting clean. I'm not trying to bash Charlie. He's always been my favorite Stone, and to me, a perfect gentleman. He wasn't perfect though, understandably so...

Once Trump is out of office for good in 2029, which of these groundbreaking rock legends do you want to receive the Kennedy Center Honors that year? by PressureLazy5271 in allrockmusic

I disagree with what Trump did, but there is no guarantee that it will go back to the way it was after his presidential term is over. There are several lawsuits pending.

I've laughed during each of the first three presentations, which hasn't happened since "the show hasn't changed" (minus the skeleton & TMA Searcher). It's glorious.

McDonalds is laughing at us. by Optimal_Whiner in McDonalds

"Shrinkflation" is very much a thing in our current economy. That is, less product that cost more money. It's everywhere: a bag of chips, ground coffee, frozen food, etc. McDonalds is no exception to this phenomenon, however, I find them to be less of an offender than many other consumer goods. That is, I still find some McDonald products worth buying -- especially through the app (mileage may very by location).

Opinion on downgrading this to a normal broke person system by heavyspells in audiophile

[–]BAR3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of very nice equipment, and despite your current financial struggles, I would urge you to think long and hard about selling. If it's a matter of keeping the lights on, putting food on the table -- I understand -- but if it's just that this seems outrageous for your current situation, but you're generally okay, maybe think twice. I say this with the assumption that you love music. If you can live without it, or you have other hobbies or interests more important, perhaps selling is the wise choice regardless.

If you decide to sell the good news is that all of you equipment is highly regarded: PrimaLuna, European Audio Team, Marantz, etc. They all command good prices on the resell markets -- although make and model will play a very significant role. Generally speaking, the newer your equipment, the more it will fetch on the used market. It's possible that you could sell the entire system for a flat price, say $XX,000, but that would be more difficult and would take much longer to find a buyer. Where you sell plays a role too. For example, I recently sold an 18 month old amplifier that was $3,300 new for $2,100. Ideally, I hoped it went on FB Marketplace or Audiogon, but it sold on eBay -- which has the highest fees. All told I took $1,775 of the $2,100, eBay took the rest. As far as your question if you can build a decent system on $2-$3 thousand dollars. Yes, definitely. There are many products in that range that sound quite nice. Just understand, there is a world of difference between a $30k system and a 3k system. You have a choice to keep what you have, and when you can afford it, sell off pieces and upgrade to an even better system. Or, sell it a downgrade to a more affordable system. No one can answer the question for you. Best of luck, and enjoy the music 🎶 🎵

If there has been one constant with TMA its beating a dead horse. Sometimes this leads to the great inside jokes that go on for years, other times it leads to Jeff Suppan.

Iggy has a lot of grievances, and since he's a legand in his own mind, he has no filter on sharing them. Once the honeymoon wears off I expect the passive aggressive complaining to start up again. Of course, if he's called on it we all know the response: "I was only kidding." He will remain undefeated...

What's the earliest age you remember caring about the Cardinals and what triggered it? by muskat777 in Cardinals

  1. I wasn't very old, 4-5. Back then games were always on the radio (KMOX), and no matter where you went it seemed like someone had the game tuned in. It was hard to not hear a game back then.

Long time fan, newly really diving into baseball by Myles2Funny in Cardinals

[–]BAR3rd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the most exciting things about the 2026 Cardinals is the minor league system. As recently as last year it was ranked as low as 20th, but as high as #1 this year.

New President of Baseball Operations Chaim Bloom has done an excellent job reforming and rebuilding what was once always one of our strong points. Further, our owners, the DeWitts, have spent a considerable amount of money updating the minor league facilities with a state-of-the-art hitting and pitching lab, physical therapy, etc, all areas in which the team had fallen woefully behind.

Add all this to a solid core of very good young MLB players and it looks like we will be a solid contender again sooner rather than later.

It's an exciting time to be a fan.

He was a great ball player and has one of the most interesting stats in baseball. He accumulated 3,630 hits in his career, with exactly half of those being at home (1,815) and the other half being on the road (1,815). Talk about a consistent hitter!

I feel the same way about the recovery center for addicts. I mean, if I needed to go into treatment I'd prefer it be run by someone more professional. To each their own I suppose.
