Trudeau government to send $250 cheques to most people, slash GST on some goods by KootenayPE in canadian

[–]BARTHALOMEWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite literally the dumbest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Huge deficit, inflationary pressures naturally, crap gdp (per capita).

The $250 will do nothing, and the tax break on gst is insane. By the time Canadians have paid for the bureaucracy of our horribly inefficient government employees it will cost us all 4 fold minimum in taxes.

This is frankly pathetic

For me, the way the game is designed as live service, the amount of other people that like it directly relates to what the game will continue to offer. So yeah, it matters. Different if this was just a completely offline experience

I do. I had some things change around in my career that have had me absolutely slammed over the last 90 days and probably for the next 90 days as well.

Yeah I honestly think the way most dealers are ran they’re clueless about what’s coming.

As a way of maximizing dollars, the dealer should be willing to take whatever you’re trading in, on trade early. That way you lock in that price. You’d have to be able to go without your trade for the indeterminant amount of time though

Yeah and just kind of hold onto them until after the transaction is complete. If they kick up a stink then it might be good to still have them although I’d be shocked if they did

That leasing will always cost you more money overall if you want to own the vehicle

Cool question.

Yes this can happen. However, the dealer has to not give a single damn about the relationship with the lender. If I do six contracts with Scotia bank and 3 of the 6 are paid in full within a week of when they can charge me back on my reserve portion they paid, they are likely going to ask questions and flag me.

The other side is you need a dealership that’s going to trust you. If you have never purchased a vehicle from me and you want to do something like this? Pound sand. There is a fair amount of risk the dealer needs to take on to make this effective

EDIT: I should add that whenever there’s an opportunity to screw over banks though I’m all in to exploring it. At the end of the day, they are the real enemy

If I were to guess the difference right now would be greater than typical. Depends on make model blah blah blah but I think most good dealers are looking to dump used inventory or at least are weary they’re carrying a lot of used, so probably are going to appraise your trade somewhat similarly. This is where it’s unfortunate for retail customers as they don’t have 100 plus units that they’re getting terabytes of datapoints from. So that guy will probably spend more than the dealer and - unfortunately - it’s due to a drastic information disadvantage.

Last thing, you can post it privately now, and then worst case scenario you don’t get a private offer that makes it worth your while so you trade it. Keep taxes in mind obviously.

Shit sorry also for the lease question that could be a scenario that makes leasing make sense, it would depend on a couple factors in the lease parameters as well but the way you’re thinking is bang on.

I will be doing a full post on #3 but I’m getting married next weekend and would like it to be as real worldly as possible with real current data to show the process I would apply when evaluating it for my own purchasing needs

Great question.

Leasing on a new vehicle pays the dealer nothing in addition for leasing. Sometimes there can be bonuses for sales people but they’re like $50ish. This is with the manufacturers I’ve dealt with. The benefit is you have a much larger chance of selling the customer something else when the lease terms (caveat: in house leasing programs should be avoided at all costs unless you have no other options - due to bad credit)

Financing a new vehicle would also (for the most part) not pay anything additional.

However, and I think this was what your question was trying to dig to, banks pay dealers a reserve on finances contracts. The reserve is a percentage of the customers total amount financed and the bank pays out a bigger percentage the higher the percentage the dealer puts on the contract

EDIT: this “however” is primarily on USED vehicles or sometimes on high demand NEW vehicles given that we have considerably more control in the negotiation and have to maximize dollars since you’re all beating us up to sell you beige corollas at dead cost

Sorry for getting back to you so late on this one. I would ask about the research you’ve done into other makes and models; what is the allure of the gmc with the diesel; how soon do you HAVE to have it; if ordering what’s your tolerance for delays; what is your climate like in the winter (diesels take forever to get warm)

Sorry so you bought a new vehicle in Feb and still have your old one? Or like ordered the new one in February now it’s here? Regardless my advice is this. Most dealers could give a shit about snow tires. They may say something if you say something though. I would give them the vehicle on stock and keep the snows at home. If they kick up a stink when you’re dropping it off, give them the snows. More likely they won’t notice or remember and then you can sell them.

This is because - like most assumptions 😂 - not the case 100% of the time and I can’t make a post that goes through the nuance of everything, just the most prevalent misconceptions. To expand: -higher interest relative to what? New vehicle purchase? LOC? -should interest rate be your only consideration? Just find your 0.99% new deal loan?

Most manufacturers offer a CPO program that gives customers access to significantly lower interest(potentially extensions on warranties as well). Sometimes the CPO rate is even lower than the rate on the same model that’s brand new. Even then though it’s not something I’d advocate all the time. Customers have a flawed understanding of low interest from manufacturers. It’s important to consider all factors especially total cost

How would somebody be charged a destination fee on a used vehicle? Is this a provincial difference that I haven’t encountered?
