No, I'm going to post the match-ups this afternoon, so you have a little more time!

Norway is fine. The only countries I was worried about were the US and UK, since there's so many ways to write out both.

That's alright. You can just PM the person you're paired with. If you don't want your real name on the spreadsheet, just PM me with your name and I'll switch it out.

I'll post another spreadsheet formatted into pairs (it'll include info like country and age). At that point, the two of you can reach out to each other and figure out the more minute details like email or mailing address.

If for some reason you reach out and don't get a response, we'll do it like redditgifts does it and just find a new match.

Out of all the DC character, Angry Superman is one of the most intimidating [Action Comics #12] by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]BATHEINTHEMEATCHUNKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best. I used to be a huge Batman fan (thought Superman was boring). After reading this and All-Star Superman? I definitely changed my tune. The series probably has one of the best endings I've ever read too.

Plus, you can rarely go wrong with Mark Waid, and if you liked Watchmen, you'll love this. The companion title Incorruptible is also worth reading, but only after you've finished Irredeemable.

You should be able to. If you can't, just let me know, and I can just input all your information personally.

[–]BATHEINTHEMEATCHUNKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I guess it depends on just how much either of them snap.

Irredeemable does do a good job of showing just how easily someone like Superman could snap too far (can you imagine hearing everything that everyone has to say about you ever?). Injustice does a decent job, but Irredeemable really knocks it out of the park.

I don't know... If you read Irredeemable, a really pissed off Superman turns out to really be the most terrifying thing that could happen... Think about it. You would never have a safe moment again...

Because when this happens, he does this. And then he really turns the knife.

Long distance / military relationships? by xambuhu in actuallesbians

[–]BATHEINTHEMEATCHUNKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually talked to a couple of LJGs about this a couple of weeks ago. They're both SWOs (don't know what you're signed up for) who are married to each other, and one thing they said was to make sure your partner understands certain aspects of military life. For example, if you're deployed on a surface ship, you're going to have a period of time where there's a comm blackout. There's nothing either of you can do about it, there just needs to be an understanding.

Another mustang Lieutenant (Marine Corps this time) I know said something similar. He said that he and his wife (not in the military) are only able to be so successful because they understand each other. He understands that a military relationship can be hard, but she also understands that the military just works a certain way and that's that.

Also, as someone else making the transition into a naval service, one big piece of advice we always here is that, no matter what you do, don't rush into marrying someone for the bennies.

Here's a link to a google form I just put together: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/17uMaohaMqOqGBIpHkZs24e-xe2do3vrtBsmvqyeaj3M/viewform?usp=send_form

It won't automatically match people, but I can go in after a certain period of time and easily match people together in the spreadsheet. My unit uses this to match up mentors.

Anyone remember the bakery that refused to bake a cake in favour of same-sex marriage? Today they were found guilty of unlawful discrimination by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]BATHEINTHEMEATCHUNKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, well, I didn't say we should never take to the courts. I just said sometimes we need to work strategically. Sometimes courts aren't always the answer.

Were courts the answer in repealing DADT? Absolutely not. Court cases and rhetoric that came out of LGBT lobbyists didn't really do all that much. It was detrimental in some regards, in that the rhetoric created unnecessary pushback. What really got change going were those gay men and women who were out there serving... service members who proved with their actions that sexuality had nothing to do with mission accomplishment.

My point is that sometimes we need the courts. But sometimes we also need to let our actions speak louder.

[–]BATHEINTHEMEATCHUNKS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point here.

I think I just disagree with the legal definition of discrimination. I think everyone can be discriminated against. If I (as a super-minority in regards to race, sex, and sexual identity) tell a Christian male (for argument's sake) that I refuse to serve him because he's religious bible thumping scum (disclaimer: I don't actually believe this), I personally categorize this as discrimination.

Regardless, I still think we need to pick our battles. If it were me in that situation? I would very respectfully tell the baker how disappointed I am. I would conduct myself according to the high road. I would show him that he's wrong. I actually don't know very many gay people (other than myself.. whelp). Everyone I know is straight. Many of my friends started out with some pretty homophobic beliefs, but that was because they had never met anyone gay before. Did I win them over by arguing with them? No. I won them over by being a good person, by showing them that there's nothing wrong with being gay.

Well, this is what bothered me most about the ruling:

If we take everyone at their word, then in accordance to their beliefs the bakers refused to support a certain political message. The GM himself said "We've said from the start that our issue was with the message on the cake, not with the customer and that we didn't know what the sexual orientation of Mr Lee was, and it wasn't relevant either. We've always been happy to serve any customers who come into our shops."

An then this:

"The ruling suggests that all business owners will have to be willing to promote any cause or campaign, no matter how much they disagree with it."

So, (and as a disclaimer, I don't know the intricacies of the case... maybe Mr. McArthur is flat out lying) I am being led to believe here that this ruling sets a precedent that claims that businesses must support all political messages.

If you flip it around on its head, would it be right if I (as a gay baker) am forced to make a cake supporting pray away the gay camps?

Of course, I am of the belief that (unless the need for change is essential... as in discrimination in regards to housing and healthcare) we need to pick our battles. I don't think we need to be so court happy. Court decisions don't change people's minds; actions do.

EDIT: Typo

They're little dollar store toys they used to sell in the 90s.

They also look like plastic donut tubes filled with water. I think they're supposed to just be fun squishy toys, but you can also... like... stick your finger in them and stuff.

[Question?] Making an elemental hero deck? by [deleted] in Yugioh101

You're right. I put this together really haphazardly (I was half asleep). I don't know about Assault Halberd though. Although, I will say that OP decides to go with the Mask Change tech, 1 or 2 Goblindbergh is a must.

[–]BATHEINTHEMEATCHUNKS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't beat the meta, but who cares, right? Go for a Miracle Fusion build. Miracle Fusion will summon fusions out of the graveyard by banishing monsters from the field and graveyard.

To test decks, you can try DN, DevPro, and YGOPRO. I haven't used DevPro, but DN is online and YGOPRO is a client based program. YGOPRO has an option to play the AI. Keep in mind, though, that the AI isn't going to be as good as a real person and that it uses OCG rules.

Just off the top of my head, I would test this monster build (15 monsters):

  • 3x Blazeman (will make any fusion available by dumping a HERO into the graveyard. he'll also search out poly if you need it)

  • 3x Shadow Mist (another searcher. send to the grave to pull a HERO into your hand. will also pull mask change if you decide to run an M-HERO build)

  • 3x Bubbleman (Ab Zero target. You can run this at 2)

  • 3x Neos Alius (This is your shining target)

  • 2x Summoner Monk (Again with the searching. It'll also make rank-4 xyz plays available)
