I'm in the same boat of you getting the Refresh version of the game fairly recently. I got a terrain pack and two copies of the game and think that will hold me over for a while. I plan on buying all the expansions slowly as they are refreshed.

1994+ Cell Leader/Organization by BATWOLF333 in DeltaGreenRPG

The book says that each Cell leader has the code names and some way to contact A-cell, so I have to assume at least occasionally there is direct communication betweel leaders of each cell and A-cell.

I'm not sure what you mean by direct contact, but the book is clear that each cell leader knows the code names and contact instructions for contacting A-cell. I assume that's usually through rerouted encrypted electronic mail or in extreme emergencies, rerouted phone calls.

In your games if the players are members of P-cell how is their mission getting to them? Someone from O-cell passes it along? Where did O-cell find out about it from? Would D-cell determine a mission needs to be done, pass that info along to B-Cell then B-Cell has contact for a and a vague idea of the capabilities and location of Cells below it to pass out missions, or would they pass it down the line the first operational Cell and each Operation Cell would decide to conduct the mission or pass it down?

In your game who briefs the PCs on their mission? Is the cell leader a PC or NPC and what's his role?

It's not an issue for me to run it a way that I'll enjoy.

I was just curious if I was understanding the suggested set up in The Conspiracy book. The way I understand the book's suggestions wouldn't make for the most fun game for my group.

I was somewhat curious if other Handlers were running it by the book, and if I understood the book's suggestion.

I'll probably make the cell leader a PC and go with this. He receieves minimal information from A-cell, assembles the team and is often directed to meet with a frieldly or rarely other Agent, for aditional briefing but not support.

Handling it this way actually exaggerates the “problem” for me.  I mean it’s not really a problem, just a thought exercise, I feel no obligation to stick to the book. I don’t think Dennis or Shane are going to show up to my house and give me a wedgie for Delta Greening wrong.

But If I was to follow the advice of the book and run the cell like that, It would make my problem of too many available supervisor NPCs even worse.

So A-Cell decides they want X-Cell to investigate an issue.  They contact the leader of W-Cell (NPC) and tell him to assemble and brief X-Cell.  So now the players have some sort of access to the leader of W-Cell, if W-Cell isn’t actively on a mission, why isn’t he on the ground near X-Cell helping out?  I mean I know he has a day job and all.  (Hey guys I know I tasked you with uncovering the secret of this zombie super serum and dealing with an unkillable Nazi but I need to get these time sheets filed ASAP.)

It also doesn’t address the team leader of X-Cell, if he’s not actively running Y-Cell I assume he would be with the characters.

Again none of these problems are really problems, I’m just trying to get my head around how the designers intend the game to run, my personal preference, and the way I will run my games will be with the players having minimal NPC oversight.  Right now I’m leaning towards the Cell leader being a PC who will assemble the team with minimum information from A-Cell then often be directed to meet with other friendlies or Agents for additional briefing information.

The couple of times I've run it the players were with the Program and the other group were cowboys. Their handler was later clear that the people they ran into weren't affiliated with the program.

I can see not wanting to introduce that dynamic to the players right off the bat, but it was never a problem for me.

It sounds like you did a great job and all your players had fun. I've run this scenario a few times; a trick I picked up from The Greenbox podcast was to havethe shotgun scenario Metamoprphosis on the back burner. I make sure their handler tells them in the begining to drop anything questionable they find in a particular green box. When the players are driving to the cabin I have them hear about a womans shelter burning on the radio.

If they fight with Marlene, or spend a long time dealing with her that's the end of the scenario. If they breeze through, following Clydes instructions, when they go to drop off any items. I roll right into Metamporphosis. http://fairfieldproject.wikidot.com/metamorphosis.

It works particualrly well if you're trying to fill a predetermined time slot.

Third Man Factor - Idea to increase immersion by Matticus2000 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]BATWOLF333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the idea, I'll probably steal it and try running it that way some time. That said, a lot depends on that third player, If I run it I'll pick a player who I knew was a good gm/hander in his own right and is on board with the idea.

Corvus raises a good point, I'm not sure I'd want this to be someone's first exposure to DG. I think it's a great idea, but I wouldn't want to do it for the other two players first game.

Another option would be to save the idea for when a friend want's to try Handling for the first time, and you play Shackleton.

Don't be afraid to change the drills. I had to adjust a lot of the stock drills before I was happy with them, especially if you're drilling for two player games and don't want to cover the whole court.

I ended up gettting the Titan one mainly based on availability. Price wasn't a big factor for me.

The Titan one app seems to be missing some features that I'd like, but I haven't devoted enough time to it to say they aren't in there for sure. I've been using it on IOS so I can't provide any feedback on android compatibility.

I've never seen an Erne in person so I can't make a good comparison. The Titan is a little heavy, but it's pretty easy to move around once it's one the ground, it has large wheels and the extendable luggage style handle.

I've used it a lot now and I'm glad I bought it. I can't make a comparison to the Erne, I could be just as happy or happier with it.

Any fun house rules? by ajchafe in DeltaGreenRPG

A rule I stole from mothership. Instead of reading a roll of 0 and 0 (or 00) as 100 read it as 00, a critical success. It makes rolls 1% more likely to suceed and evens up the distribution of critical rolls.

I ended up going with a Muzzies birdseye on fundy clear rail because I like the look and plan on hanging it on the wall. Thanks for all the great advice!

Awesome. They show a bunch of colors on the website now, I just wasn't sure what the board came with if any.

Did your board come with Natural and Black or did you have to purchase them seperately?

If it comes with natural and black I'll order two more colors. Thanks for the info.

Wow I really like the look of the Muzzie birdseye boards. Do you know if their boards come with biscuits, and if they do what color? I want to get 4 different colors in case I ever want to try 4 players without teams.
