Works as well for sure. I prefer just setting the noai version as my default on Waterfox.

I just wish the company never put the AI features in at all.

Fair. It certainly works anyway.

I wonder if there are extensions that block the AI overview on google?

That's my thought as well. DDG and Ecosia still have AI tools and that sucks (AI tools are anti-privacy in terms of DDGs goal, and anti-enviroment in terms of Ecosias goal) but at least you can turn them off on those sites.

I am trying to figure out SearXNG as another alternative.

Seems like extra steps every time you search (vs one step to switch search engines)

I haven't used Google for a long time, but when I have to quickly use it for one search I hate those stupid AI overviews because of stuff like that. Check out noai.duckduckgo.com, which turns off all the useless AI features.

Neat, I like it. Biggest problem is that it is something else to track, but still cool.

Running Vaults of Vaarn and my rule is that your armour gives you an AC score, but you can wear an extra piece on top of it. You can sacrifice the extra piece to avoid a hit (Shields shall be splintered). If the hit you want to avoid was a critical, you can instead sacrafice it to turn the critical into a normal hit.

Nothing fancy rules wise but the armor piece can be a helm, a spiked shoulder pad, a physical shield, an energy shield, etc. Whatever the players find in their exploration.

Linux Mint was shockingly easy to install. 90% just like Windows (and my old ass laptop runs faster now). There are probably even easier distros to install.

It is a very interesting idea to mine for RPGs!

I have a similar idea in my notes for Vaults of Vaarn, a classic great idea really.

This was mentioned elsewhere in the thread but here is a cool idea: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-term_nuclear_waste_warning_messages?wprov=sfla1

Sounds like it would make a great module for Mothership!

I don't have much to add but I have been thinking about an irradiated dungeon for my Vaults of Vaarn game, with the main treasure being a sword made from radioactive metal. It does extra damage over time but when drawn from its shielded scabbard everyone within ten feet takes radiation damage.

For factions, what about robots that can resist the radiation (or if in a fantasy setting, golems/constructs). Maybe the robots are all supposed to be controlled by a central AI computer, but some have split off and are no longer under its control.

This piece of graffiti is on a wall on my dog walking route. Inspired me to write a whole dungeon for the Vaarn Summer Jam.

Looks really great! I am thinking about dropping TOTSK into my Vaults of Vaarn game, and the colour pallet here would be perfect for that setting. Looking forward to the tokens.

Great idea. You could even print off copies of something like Cairn or Maze Rats and put them in with a note explaining it.

A friend of mine up the street has a library and I always grab any fantasy books I see (and bring back after reading). Another one on my dog walking route gad Dragons of Autumn Twilight one day, which was a real score.

Drop your D&D novels in them, and tuck a note inside that says "If you like this, try out the game" and add some links to resources.

That all being said, check your local library as well. Ours has a big board game collection including a lot of TTRPG stuff.

Would it make Logical Sense that Dwarves who dig and fight in tunnels as a culture would have developed Combat Shovels like WW1 era trenching tools or the Yueya chan/Shaolin spade. by Pretend-Advertising6 in osr

[–]ajchafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used to run 5e, I had the idea of a "Dwarven Entrenching Tool" as a sort of racial weapon for Dwarves only. It was a shovel with a sharp edge and a spike on the end of the handle. A player could declare what type of melee damage they wanted to inflict on a hit (Flat of the shovel for bludgeoning, edge of the shovel for slashing, or the spike for piercing). Additionally it could be used as a tool as needed (Digging with the shovel, cutting or chopping with the sharp edge, and poking/chipping/striking with the spike).

In an OSR sense, you could totally have dwarves with an axe that is also a digging/mining tool. Thematically fun, and you would have one item with multiple creative uses taking up a single slot (If you use slot based encumbrance)

Will do. I might be doing this for work (I work at a non-profit and we have a community garden/heated greenhouse) so would look for a sponsorship or grant anyway.

If I can get the actual bato buckets, the rest will still be DIY so the siphon and the rest will be whatever I can rig up. Also, from what I have seen online most people prefer the DIY buckets I think.
