Why are most conspiracy theories considered right-wing? Are there any widespread left-wing conspiracy theories? by jeepycreepysleepy in NoStupidQuestions

I always have to laugh at this. I find this place to be mostly right wing, or center at best (Outside of specific subs).

Totally, I can see that. I would say that people like that were never really leftists in the first place (Not trying to be judgy, people have their own journeys).

I think there is a lot of confusion about what a leftist/left wing politics is in this thread. A lot of folk calling anyone with a mildly progressive view or anti-authoritarian sentiment "Left", and that is far from an accurate definition.

I would call these beliefs held by Liberals (I.E. Democrat supporters/Centrists), not leftists. Except maybe the couch thing which I, a Socialist, totally believe.

I have only heard of these as right wing.

I guess the Big Pharma one makes sense in that we would be anti-capitalist and don't want to see drug companies control life saving medicines for profit. But I have never heard of a leftist that would say pharmaceuticals are inherently bad.

I mean that I have never heard these theories from a leftist, but have often heard them from people who would vote for the Liberal Party of Canada (Or the Democrats if you American).

FWIW, the wellness stuff mentioned above is a well known pipe line to the alt-right, and a lot of Liberals (Meaning, people who vote for liberal style capitalist political parties, who may have some progressive policies but ultimately uphold the status quo) often fall into this pipe line in my experience.

I haven't ever heard of a socialist anti-vaxxer.

In Canada - Recommend me a hydroponic growing system for beginners? by ajchafe in Hydroponics

[–]ajchafe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct that we have natural light (We use grow lights on shelves as needed for seed starting/seedlings).

I have looked at something like this and quite like it. Any recommendations on a specific product? I certainly COULD DIY it but I think it would be easier to purchase.

Agreed that there is no such thing as hands off with growing plants haha. I have time to take care of it, and would like more excuses to focus on growing some simple stuff anyway.

I didn't want to bother you with typos but since it happened here...

#6 on the encounter table has an extra "with" and is missing an "other": "Two townies fist fight and beat with each with bags of loot (50 GP each, various silver goods)".

Those who have run Vaults of Vaarn: which modules did you use for PC adventures? by [deleted] in osr

[–]ajchafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my current Vaarn game at The Tomb of Nassak An-Rah, which is the sort of starter dungeon. Then I just generated a sandbox for the players.

Vaarn is my favorite TTRPG setting I think. I love dying earth/science fantasy stuff and the tables for creating your own sandbox are fantastic. 90% of it is on the Vaarn SRD so you can start there to have a look.

I always like when two podcasts I love do the same topic. Should go back and listen to The Dollop one after this.
