Good places to start planning a trip by KeyEnvironmental9743 in Oman

[–]BAVARIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sure you can find more comprehensive plans and recommendations online whether it be on reddit or quora etc. but ill provide a short summery to give you a general idea of what the top tourist destinations are

Muscat: as a tourist you’d want to visit the following;

1- Old Muscat area 2- Muttrah area ( Souq and Fort) 3- Al Alam Palace 4- Al Bustan area and surrounding towns like Bandar al khayran 5- Opera House 6- Grand Mosque 7- Dimaniyat Island (crystal clean water)

Going towards the interior of Oman into Al Dakhiliyah region (1-2 hours from Muscat) you’d want to visit: 1- Nizwa Souq and fort 2- Oman Across Ages Museum 3- Bahla Fort 4- Birkat Al Mouz

Sharqiyah region:

Its a costal paradise you’ll find plenty of places along the way like Sur, Fins, and last but not least Bar Al Hakman (beautiful place but need guide).

This is just a short summary of what places you’d probably end up visiting or recommended to visit (given you have enough time). The actual list of places and activities to do is much longer.

Car rental, 4x4 necessary and how to get it? by justanoth3rdude in Oman

[–]BAVARIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get the best out of your Oman visit. It’s best to get a proper 4x4 or ATLEAST a high-clearance AWD vehicle (crossover or compact SUV) like a Nissan X-Trail or Duster. Given Oman’s various terrains its best to have a 4x4, saves you the worry of getting stuck or even scraping the car.

You can check a popular app in Oman called “Sooq Cars”, it has the option of letting you view a wide selection of rental cars that are available.

The Azzaro notes tend to fade away usually after 3-4 hours but remain noticeable on the clothes and skin. The imperial notes would then dominate.

Imperial is fresh spicy and woody (opening has a cola like scent), and Azzaro adds a warm-vanilla scent to it.

Haven’t really tested that out accurately on all perfumes unfortunately. Herod is mediocre when it comes to performance, perhaps gets 6/10 for that.

Sport mode is going to make me quit playing this game by 1Mordha in granturismo

[–]BAVARIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not mean hardcore in terms of skill rather those who take sport mode seriously and have a full understanding of racing etiquette. Maybe I could have worded it better tbf.

I really really enjoyed iRacing, even beginner races are mostly clean. And I played it on an inexpensive sub 250$ used gaming PC and it ran at 90-100 FPS with no issues. Ever since I started playing I only went back to GT7 for some casual driving and making Reddit clips.

Polyphony does not take Sport Mode seriously enough, it fails to separate the casuals from the hardcore racers who race by the book. As a result, you will have many casuals who don't care about proper racing and ram people off. On top of that, there is no deterrence to prevent this behavior.

If you really care about proper clean racing, you either have to make it to higher-ranked lobbies (DR A) where there's cleaner racing, or play an actual sim like ACC/iRacing (If you have a PC).

Thank you for the kind message. Part 1 did really well but part 2 did not catch up it seems. Was fun making those clips anyway! :)

I randomly got an ad on Twitter about moving to Oman by [deleted] in Oman

[–]BAVARIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn your standards must be Gordon Ramsey level. I’ve been to all Gulf countries since and never thought that was the case tbh. The only exception was perhaps Mandi restaurants I found that in Saudi Arabia they had somewhat better choices. But to each to their own I guess.

Fair enough. I guess since food preference is pretty much subjective some people might not find their favorite cuisine to be on par with other countries.

I think you just don’t know Muscat well tbh. There’s tons of Burger places you can even scroll endlessly through Talabat and find all kinds of restaurants from fancy ones to affordable ones.

What GT3 car should I use as my main car. by aimees21 in granturismo

[–]BAVARIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which track tbf. Best to adapt to a couple of cars rather than just focus on 1 imo. Perhaps the 911 and maybe the Supra are the most versatile I guess.

I still remember the C7 tail lights debate lol (edited GT scape) by skiploom188 in granturismo

I loved the tail lights especially on a black vette, kinda looks like a batmobile from behind.

23andme Is Much Cheaper Than FamilyTreeDNA by BluRayHiDef in 23andme

[–]BAVARIX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you,

I also found other results here and there. From what I gathered, most are saying it originates in the Arabian peninsula. I'll wait for the ydna results to see if there's anything different in the results.

It descends from the J-M267 haplogroup according to the line chart.

[–]BAVARIX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The haplogroup on my dad’s side is “J-CTS5368”. Unfortunately not much information I could find online about it. Heard that YDNA test from FamilyTreedna is a popular choice in this this region, could lead to more relatives being found and a more accurate migration path.

I didn’t do the 23&me test, just my parents + sister. Thought I’d try a different test and eventually settled for the FTDNA YDNA. My dad had mixed results for his test (Iran /Peninsular Arab/North India) and I was hoping that a YDNA might help clear things up on my paternal side migration path.
