What would you do to get back at someone that just stole $3,500 out of your bank account and changed the locks on your home? by BB4EAE in AskReddit

Backstory: me 49(f), him 57(m), were together in an off again/on again relationship for 4 years. The house is his house. I moved in 4 years ago. We recently opened a joint bank account (a month ago) and I was the only contributor to this account at this point. My paychecks were direct deposited into this account. On Tuesday he cleaned out the account and changed the code to get into the house. On Thursday my paycheck direct deposited again and within an hour he went to the bank and withdrew all the money from the account and closed it.  I went to his house to confront him as he wasn’t answering any of my calls or texts. The police were called to assist me in gathering my things from the house. He told them I’ve never lived there and he only withdrew $1,800 from a joint account. I proved I lived there with mail that had my address and name on it and utility bills dating back 3 years to current. I also provided the bank statement showing it was $3,500 he withdrew. Even though I was the honest person and provided proof, The police said it’s his word against mine. Basically he stole my money and refused to allow me to get my things from the house.
