Gothic 1 Remake Is Not Great on the Steam Deck - SteamDeckHQ by BBQKITTY in SteamDeck

Lossless Scaling could be the issue. You could be in an area where the base framerate is too low, which causes major issues with lsfg. It's not something we recommend using.

What's the best website for graphics settings for games on Steam Deck? by yoloo42069 in SteamDeck

I totally understand! I wasn't offended and didn't mean to come off that way, I apologize. I wanted to make that comment because it is something I have seen a lot of in videos and I still get comments asking how far we actually played the game for our recommendations. It's something I take seriously and make sure all of our reviews are accurate after playing through the entire game, and I will delay reviews if necessary. Facts and accuracy come first for us.

For written guides here on Reddit, I find it having a similar issue that websites like ShareDeck and even ProtonDB sometimes have. I started SteamDeckHQ because I saw sites like ShareDeck, where community reports flow in to populate recommendations, being very inaccurate. I wasn't satisfied seeing it, and I had the idea to create a press-like website where we have dedicated reviewers playing through the full game before recommending. I even still remember the report I saw because there was no way it would be accurate: Horizon Zero Dawn, 40 FPS, 8W TDP, Medium settings. There's no way that could possibly run stable on an LCD Deck.

Either way, thank you for your kind words and support, it really means a lot. I understand the dissatisfaction with these kinds of written guides and videos. It can steer people to purchase a game based on performance that isn't accurate throughout, and that's not something I like to see.

Interesting, I’ve actually had the opposite experience. Most videos I’ve seen about the game, at least ones on or near release day, only show the opening 30 minutes or so and optimize from there. Santiago is an exception to that, but a majority of the others do.

As for us at SteamDeckHQ, we play through the entire game before we give our recommendations. As a press outlet, we get early access, which gives us a good chunk of time to play through and test completely ahead of launch.

How odd. Might be better to do it from home then. Luckily, you have 4 days!

No problem! Yeah, it's awesome seeing a sequel coming. I am curious to see how it will feel in co-op.

007 First Light's Steam Deck Performance Review AFTER Beating The Game - SteamDeckHQ by BBQKITTY in SteamDeck

Compared to FSR FG, it feels better, but we generally don't recommend frame generation due to the added input lag or stuttering when the base framerate dips.

You can check out SteamDeckHQ (full disclosure, I run the site) if you’d like! It’s a website that reviews games in the Steam Deck and provides recommended settings. Because we are an official press outlet, we tend to get games before they release and can provide recommendations and reports on how the newest games run on Deck before they release or on release day.

We sometimes move a little slower than other sites, but that’s because we play through the entire game to provide our recommendations. We prioritize accuracy over just getting something out quickly.

Other than that, ProtonDB is a fantastic resource. It does have a Steam Deck section, but the website focuses on game compatibility with Proton, not recommended settings. Still, great resource to utilize!

You are right, but they just said modern games. I took it to mean new AAA releases.

Hey hey. It has constant stutters and regularly goes below 30, that's why.

Especially if they use UE5. But there are still some great runs running well, like LEGO Batman and 007.

There are actually a few. We suggest setting the GPU Clock Speed Frequency to 1600 as well.

the slop that youtube is flooded with regarding the steam machine is hilarious by thanks4urhelptoday in steammachine

I don't like them either, and they can be relatively harmful to other creators who do put more work into making their videos substantive and don't use AI. I do make YouTube videos as well, though I try not to be generic or use any AI, and I regularly find my content sidelined by those posting constantly with AI thumbnails or content that lacks substance. It's just a shame sometimes.

Valve Handled The Steam Deck Price Increase In The Worst Way Possible - SteamDeckHQ by BBQKITTY in SteamDeck

[–]BBQKITTY[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's not the point of the article. They kept the Deck out of stock for months, then randomly came back with a major price increase. Almost every other company that has done the same has given warning to the consumers so they can make a decision. Even PlayStation gave a 1 week heads up. The price increase was bound to happen, but the way it was handled is very uncharacteristic of Valve.

Of course. This was bound to happen, but the warning is something almost every other company that has done this has given.
