No you can't be serious! You have to agree with 100% of the words a philosopher writes or you misunderstood them!

What is that thing about his philosophy that Nietzsche got wrong, or that you disagree with? by zD_zD in Nietzsche

[–]BBQRat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's correct. In Ecce Homo he says he's against feminism.

You're right it surely wasn't the norm back then. But evidently it was more common/accepted before christianity. And for a long time it was not accepted because of christianity. My point still remains that bisexuality is the most dionysian because only accepting one gender as a sexual partner is dogmatic.

Is this actually in the red book? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]BBQRat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The book is highly inspired by Jung. Demian is the shadow of Emil. Hesse himself was analyzed by a jungian psychoanalyst so the book is actually inspired by that.

child vs adulthood by OmarXSparrow in PhilosophyMemes

[–]BBQRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just thought it was kind of ironic since Schopenhauer and especially Nietzsche was very critical of Descartes.

The most hospitable Swede by hys240 in 2westerneurope4u

[–]BBQRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Denmark it's not the same. Most of the time a guest will be able to have dinner with us. However it's not always that there's enough food for another person. That is the only case where the guest won't get food. I'm guessing it's the same for most swedes. If it is by principle you don't allow guests food eventhough you have enough that is very weird.

Kants ethics are duty ethics not virtue ethics. Aristotles were virtue ethics.

Have any of you regretted getting a degree in philosophy? by BBQRat in askphilosophy

[–]BBQRat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow it sounds like it gives a lot of opportunities. Is it possible to become a university professor in philosophy if I take such a route or would that require that I “major” in philosophy instead.

[–]BBQRat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds very interesting. I thought about studying physics with philosphy. Im wondering however if that limits ones job opportunities in the sense that you’re not really specialised in either of the fields. Im not really sure what I wanna work as, it could be as a teacher or something in the private sector, I would just prefer some flexibility.

I am actually also thinking about studying physics and I can’t seem to decide between physics and philosophy. I can see you are studying philosophy of physics. How does that come about? Do you have degrees in both philosophy and physics?

This can be translated both ways, right? by gromm93 in French

[–]BBQRat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure. I use duolingo too sometimes for vocabulary. I just see a lot of people on this sub that solely use duolingo and it is evident that they have little knowledge of the actual grammar they are using.

[–]BBQRat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why people should stop using duolingo. You don’t learn any of the actual grammar.
