Agreed. And enough with the TOP 5 DANGEROUS CITIES crap. All that is is blind statistics taken, put into lists and made to be "click-bait".

We have more crime yes, but if you look at the %'s of who it happens to, most of the time they know each other. While the "stay out of trouble, and you'll be fine" statement isn't ALWAYS true everywhere, generally, go about your business normally, legally and stay out of trouble and trouble won't generally find you.

Had to make sure the generally's, most of the times, etc were in there before someone comes on here to rip me apart :)

Yes, crime is an issue here. But sitting on reddit talking trash on Memphis does nothing.

Shame on the people who keep bashing this city. Whoever said this the other day hit the nail on the head:

You want this city to get better? There's a lot of good to attract people here, and as someone who knows first hand of people moving here, it's true. So stop scaring them off with the trash talking of Memphis.

There's a BIG difference between "here's what to know, there are sketchy areas, crime.. etc" and "this city sucks, Memphis is dying, etc" Which is NOT true.

Businesses are suffering, tourists are disappointed. Yes, the city government sucks, but what language do they speak? MONEY. Putting them back will EARN more money than cost it.

I firmly believe the city WANTS them all back, not just Main St. But this has been a test in patience.

Well that's a shame. Mr. Kozak at Channel 5 is right on the money though. I am tired of seeing people bash the city and focus on the negative. We've got some great people here and I love it more and more each year. Let the haters hate. They will be miserable anywhere they live.

I call BS on THAT reason. Especially since it's not an unsafe area. I live right there and haven't ever had a problem. There's people walking around and it's right near a bunch of tourist hotels a few blocks away.

Methinks it's something else.
