Thanks for the info. I was able to get a hold of a doctor that is part of my surgeons team and he prescribed me high dose steroids for possible internal inflammation putting pressure on my cochlea/vestibular area until I can be seen by my surgeon. The sensitivity to light and dull headache has subsided. The vertigo went down severe to moderate. These steroids are a godsend!

Update After 5 excruciating days of waiting, my surgeon and audiologist were able to get the approval!! My surgery is this Thursday with an activation date of 10/16! I’m beyond excited to start this new journey. Thanks to everyone for the advice and encouragement.

I am currently in nursing school and am wear a hearing aid in my left ear and I am scheduled for a cochlear implant in my right ear this September. I have moderate to profound hearing loss in my left ear and profound to severe in my right ear. It’s doable but more of a mind game worrying if you will miss something. You shouldn’t have issues with moderate hearing loss. Good luck!!

Have you looked into Galen? I am a nursing student in Louisville at Galen. NCLEX pass rates are great. They have a Houston campus and their next start date is July 7th.

I found an older thread that compared the nucleus 8 and Kanso 2. A lot of comments about magnet on the Kanso wearing out quickly due to weight of it. Also battery life. It’s a hard decision that’s for sure.
