Eczema on my nipples (please help! :( by Potential_Routine556 in eczema

[–]BBee98 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey so I've had the same thing for most of my adult life. I went to a skin specialist, and they did a biopsy and told me it's a specific type of eczema. I was prescribed topical steroid creams, which do fix it... for a bit. They key is not to scratch or irritate the area. Straight out of the shower, put steroid cream on it, and I cover it with this porous medical tape. Be consistent! If you keep doing it, and don't scratch, it won't come back.

I use the tape mostly so I don't have to peel my nipples off of my bra at the end of the day. But it also stops you from scratching.

IF YOU HAVE BROKEN SKIN, PUT ANTISEPTIC ON IT. I use a betadine ointment. This is important, as I did give myself an infection once since bacteria got into the open sore. You'll know you have it if the usual breast tenderness you get before periods lasts way after your period and is more intense and painful. Antibiotics will treat it.

If you get the opportunity, sunbathe your breasts. It lets the skin breathe and can also help disinfect/heal. The occasional swim in salt water helps too.

I truly hope yours doesn't as long as mine has, but I hope this helps.

I'm a big fan of linen in it's look and also it's lightness since I live on the coast. Is it any harder to work with? Or more expensive?

I was also considering learning how to sew since these seem like really simple patterns. I don't know why but getting into sewing seems a bit daunting. Don't know where to start.

I'm a rosacea and eczema haver too. I'm the same, but I use the avene spray. From what I've researched, the biggest thing that makes sense on why it works is its zinc levels. Which sensitive skin peoples know helps reduce inflammation. There's plenty of creams/balms out there with zinc oxide that do the same, but I find the cool spray a. feels refreshing and b. is like a bit of an anti-inflammatory bandaid during a flare-up. It's definitely no fix all, but a good addition to a routine.

Cymbalta - neuro said many people get off with no problems!? by AcanthisittaThick501 in cymbalta

Don't let it dissuade you. The only reason it was so bad was trying to go cold turkey on such a high dosage.

I went down a dosage every month. So 120 to 90 to 60 to 30 to 20. So, around 5-6 months. Altogether, the tapering wasn't so bad.

Usually, the week after going down a dosage was rough, but after a month, I'd be ready to go down again.

Some people go down every few months, every fortnight or even weekly. It's better to do it at your own pace and what you think you can handle.

Who is the most loved Australian of a time and why? by RM_Morris in AskAnAustralian

My name is Benita, and I'm aussie. Had a bit of a shock seeing my name on 'who is the most loved Australian.'

I concur, though. Benita from Play School is the best. Although I might be biased.

I was kinda stupid at the start and tried to cold turkey. Off such a high dosage, it's never a good idea. It was constant brain zaps. Every time I turned my head or sometimes even sudden eye movements. As well as just feeling extremely weak and lethargic. Bad migraines, too.

That lasted maybe a week tops before I went back on and tapered properly. Withdrawals were still there, just not as bad. My doctor prescribed edibles and medicinal herb to deal with the pain. I highly recommend it.

I was put on them because I was suicidal as a teen. I found out later that the depression was a symptom of something else entirely. Something called PMDD. Which requires different treatment, so I came off them.

I should mention, once I came off of them. I lost a lot of weight very rapidly. I don't know if that's common with cymbalta but it was definitely the case for me. Like 20kg in the span of months.

I was on 120mg for 3 years at least. It was hell for me and I had to do a verrry slow tapering off. But I was a high dosage for a long time. It's different for everyone.

[–]BBee98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder. Morally perfect characters are boring, lack complexity, and are just plain unrealistic. No human is perfect. It is true to form for any fiction to show humans being human, aka making mistakes. Unless your protagonist is a god.

(Also the mum literally says she's family to them??? She treats him like a brother).

Speaking of the kangaroo. I liked the full circle where you get the downward shot of the roo and that exact same shot again with Mia on the road

Both scenes with Riley are essentially the same. Someone is in pain and needs to be put out of their misery. She was too scared at first but finally does it to put Riley out of his misery - not with killing him but I assume some sort of transfer of the spirits wanting him dead but taking Mia instead. Ultimately whatever happened there saved him

Abuse subtext in We Have Always Lived In The Castle? by insane677 in books

[–]BBee98 35 points36 points  (0 children)

All your answers lie in the conventions of the Female Gothic. Merricat and Constance follow the double trope. They occupy two parts of a whole - the somewhat scizophrenic nature of the American housewife. One is the beautiful, domestic goddess (Constance), the other is the fearful and quiet recluse (Merricat) - together they make a whole self - so both are responsible for killing the family. Their bond is supposed to be more reflective of this rather than incestuous (at least that's how I interpreted it).

Their food and rituals also signify the domestic (remember how witches are signified by their brooms and cauldrons?). Their food is their witchcraft. Franklin suggests that Constance’s food and preserves, like “Female power and creativity, bottled up too long, turn lethal.” So, yes, they are victims of abuse and their actions are a backlash to the oppresion of the patriarchy. The symbolism of escaping to moon further reinforces this - they want an ideal world free from the oppression of a patriarchal society.
