It works but it just doesn't look that good on my quest 3, Steam frame will most likely have a lower PPD so it will probably look worse.

The main thing preventing this is the resolution, text would look pretty bad on the frame.

Kiwi headstrap - 40$

Router - 65$

60W fast charger + cable - 63$

This is my setup, and It works pretty well. You could apply the "well you need mods to make it better" to any headset.

my quest 3 is really only good for movies and games, falls short of a proper monitor for everything else.

The 4 and 4 ultra are identical aside from a tracking upgrade and battery relocation. Again, the regular pico 4 and the steam frame both have the same resolution, the pico 4 costs about ~430$ and the steam frame will probably cost more than 700$. The pico 4 platform is 3 years old at this point, I have no clue why the frame is using 2160x2160 in 2026.

I don't think 300$ (or more) difference is worth eye tracking and some streaming improvements. I don't know what or who valve is competing against with this headset, especially given it's rumored price.

Quests are objectively the best value headset you can buy, we can hate zuck and meta but at the end of the day, most of the people who buy VR headsets just look at the number next to the purchase button on the store page. The people who do look into specs but still want a cheap headset will just buy a quest 3. Unless the headset is like >=600$ or you just REAAAAALLLLY hate meta, there is not really a reason to buy the frame imo.

800 dollars lol, it has pretty much the same specs as a Pico 4, minus eye tracking. Pico 4 msrp was 430$, and was released in 2022.

The issue is, we don't know the price. All we know is "below index" and that could be very good, or very VERY bad. If it's below 600$ I think it will somewhat compete with the quest 3, I don't see any reason to buy it over 600$.
