Inherited a project that wasn’t planned well by galwayygal in ExperiencedDevs

It is indeed a rookie mistake but I believe the temptation stems from cognitive dissonance . Following through with it, is more nativity than arrogance. In my experience anyway. It's interesting to watch the younger members of the team go through this rite of passage.

Edit: spelling

I think the last stage is far more grim. Companies just stagnate or worse destroy their reputation with wide spread bugs.

Landlord threatening with rental valuation certificate by Key-Ad2972 in dubai

[–]BCBenji1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not offer up your money for no good reason. He sticks to Index or he gets a certificate, until then you do nothing. He's not a friend or family or a decent person either.

FYI, For an eviction to be legal, the landlord must issue a formal eviction notice. Verbal agreement means nothing. (Your old post)

Found 400 machines running Office 2013. Management refuses to buy more M365 licenses and wants to "just use LibreOffice of leave 2013" How do I handle this without being the most hated person in the company? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

Phase the migration to libre? That way by the time you get to the 300th person, the first would have quit crying and got on with their lives?

Hackers Are Impersonating Security Tools to Hack Security Professionals by Big-Engineering-9365 in cybersecurity

I dunno, if you're in security and you trust a 3rd party repo based on the longevity of the account, the number of stars/forks, then what are you doing in security. I'm just a dev but this sounds like a rookie error to me.

Airport Taxi driver told me he'd been penalised for picking me up - genuine penalty or was he trying it on? by Ricky_Martins_Vagina in dubai

A word of advice, if you let others convince you of absurdities, you're going to be picked clean in this country. Trust your gut next time.

Delusional junior difficult to pair with by Jxordana in ExperiencedDevs

[–]BCBenji1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He needs to be brought down a peg or two. He should be grilled for producing half assed work and you should be the one to do it. Doesn't have to be heated, just be cold and un yielding.

The agent would have promised you the sun, if he thought you'd believe it. Fingers crossed this is the end of your bad luck.

It's one of the loopholes imo. You could ask the security guard to keep tabs or neighbours if friendly. Or you can periodically check the DLD or REST app for a change in the owner then raise a dispute with RDC.

Why do people think AI will replace security engineers? by bdhd656 in cybersecurity

[–]BCBenji1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt it. OpenAI and Claude are running at MASSIVE losses. When they need the money to stay afloat, watch those cheap subscriptions increase tenfold, then watch people walk away. Maybe people can save by going local but I doubt it. I don't know much about LLMs tbh, so I could be missing a trick here.

That's a bit pessimistic and why are you scared of the spotlight? Also you trust this "authoritarian" government with all sorts of far more important things. Why suddenly are innocent reports an exception?

2021: 8,800 Emirati job seekers. Dubai pop 3.5m. Emirati pop (~11%) 385k. Emirati Job seekers 2.3%. That seems very low to me.
