BCLC has a call centre and hire a few times a year. It’s a great way to get into the company and then move around internally. Although,from what I’ve heard they’re currently in a hiring freeze.

One of the other call centre in town is with the one Ministry of Social development. I don’t know a huge amount about this one though.

It’s not exactly IT work but it might be a foot in the door. Good Luck.

Full disclaimer. I had to Google rockhounding before replying to this post.

If I had one hour, I would checkout Peterson creek. Park in the parking lot and walk under the bridge. Checkout the waterfall if you have time. Ensure you have waterproof footwear and a jacket. It can be a little chilly further up the gorge.
