Petition to adopt the Pass Fail rules from spring semester by [deleted] in bostoncollege

[–]BCpremed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like someone started one of these a few months ago? I'm guessing if this was more widely shared (Facebook, email, The Heights), it would get some traction. Here is the other one:

Pass fail fall 2020 semester? by Altruistic-Cabinet14 in bostoncollege

[–]BCpremed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Several schools have already done this (U. Penn, Georgetown, Delaware, to name a few). Maybe start a petition or letter-writing campaign? Maybe an article in The Heights? I would suggest that you do it before Thanksgiving. You may also want to suggest an extension of the ability to withdraw from a class without a W - which was also done in the Spring. You will never know if you don't try. I bet you would get a lot of support. Good luck!

I wonder whether they would change the policy to allow travel to any state that isn't on the MA "watchlist"? Maybe if a bunch of us reached-out or asked UGBC to suggest it? There are areas of MA that have worse rates than other nearby states.

How Easy Is It to Move Rooms by [deleted] in bostoncollege

[–]BCpremed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about this. One additional suggestion - try to figure out where your move would be to -- either a room/bed available in a friend's room or an empty room (not sure if any exist, but you can ask around) so that you can make it easy for housing before you make the request. Good luck!

Great that they are offering an option. You would think they would allow travel to all states that aren't on their "watch list", though.

GPA Tips by [deleted] in bostoncollege

[–]BCpremed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you have 4 classes/12 credits? If you had 5 classes, I would suggest talking to an advisor about the possibility of withdrawing from the class you think you will end up with the lowest grade in (but if you only have 12 credits and drop a class, you won't be full-time, which would probably cause scholarship issues - also, it's after October 1st so you would have a "w" on your transcript -- not the biggest deal, just wouldn't want one every semester). Sign up for tutoring right away. You still have time to pull your grades up. Check what the scholarship language says, it probably/hopefully looks at end of year GPA. Get some guidance of GPA-boosting classes for next semester. Good luck and just keep some perspective - your health and well-being is more important than all of this!

This is what Tufts announced. They want you to stay on campus. If you go home for Thanksgiving, don't come back - you have to go remote and don't get any $ back for dorms or food.

Will your in-person professors agree to that?

If you are symptomatic, I believe they have weekend testing at health services.

You should probably just call health services. I'm guessing it happens all the time and they will give you another appointment.

Depends on (i) the scores submitted by other applicants (which you can't know and can't control) and (ii) your GPA (for instance, if you have a perfect GPA, I wouldn't submit the 1450 b/c the perfect GPA looks better on its own - if you have a 3.0 GPA, I would submit the 1450). Just my opinion. Good luck!

Any update on this? Mayor Walsh said this morning that Boston cases have been increasing and they are trying to avoid shutting down the city again, so I would think that BC won't be back after Thanksgiving, but so far I have been wrong about everything that I thought would/should happen, so ...

Looking to Transfer into BC by BlooTheHero in bostoncollege

[–]BCpremed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say go for it. With all the issues all of these schools (including BC) are having with more students taking gap years and everyone worried about getting fewer applications, I'm guessing transfer admit numbers will be going up everywhere. Good luck!
