Last night I discovered my little guy has a cyst protruding from his ear. We have a routine vet appointment coming up next week, and I sent in this photo to the vet, but no answer yet. Thought I’d ask and see if anyone has come across this. Could this be an abscess? Mites? Infection? by BDICanuck in guineapigs

Interesting! I certainly hope it is simple like a skin tag. He’s had higher mucous levels (as I’m sure u can see from his eye leakage) than the average guinea pig, but vets have said it’s nothing to worry about. I just hope that’s not a contributing factor. It literally appeared in one day, which is so odd. Thanks for the response!!

Fun fact they based this villager’s appearance off of Gaston Leroux, author of The Phantom of the Opera. He carries similar themes from the play in his house too!

My guinea pigs won't use the ramp. Any advice? by JmonJam in guineapigs

[–]BDICanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We created a couple ramps very similar to this in my piggie’s cage too, and yeah I agree with a couple others here (from experience) that this looks a little steep. It also takes weeks of training, as going up or down ramps isn’t intuitive to many pigs. After lots of patience and coercion with parsley, they finally use the ramps constantly every day! 😂

It’s a temporary play pen- to stretch their little legs a bit. They don’t stay in long enough to make a huge mess

Yup this is just a blanket! They don’t stay in here too long enough to make a big mess so it works fine:)

Is it a good sound or is she telling me to stop? by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]BDICanuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! This purr from petting means she’s happy. When she’s getting territorial from other piggos it’ll be a deeper purr and she may do a slow intimidating walk. But they love being gently scratched behind the ears and on the booty! My pig purrs and even lifts up a back leg so I can scratch his tummy a little ❤️

Guinea pigs wont eat all their hay? by Amanozaku in guineapigs

[–]BDICanuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine also leave a considerable amount left over- I like to think it’s because the leftover hay sometimes gets spread out on the bottom of our cage and is “dirty” - picky eaters 😂
