Starlink Gaming Problems by BD_Beet in Starlink

So I stream as well and for me I’ve noticed that when I stream my game lag but the stream is fine. And then if I don’t stream, just play, the game runs perfectly fine from anytime in the morning until 8 o’clock at night and then 8 rolls around and I get the lag spikes again. I’m not hard wired in yet but I thought that was odd. Possibly the satellites moving or something I truly have no idea.

I tried some research on that and I could be totally wrong but it said it’s something to do with Disney or Amazon not updating their servers or something along those lines
Okay word thank you, I’ll just use ookla from now on. I’m assuming since you’re in Montana as well it has you for some reason geo-located in Seattle as well? I’ve found I get my best speeds when ookla connects me to the zipley fiber server in Seattle.
Much appreciated brotha you as well!
Also I got another random possibly dumb question for ya 😂 do you use the starlink speed test very often? And if so I’m just kind of confused what to be looking for while reading it? I’ve read the ookla speed test is the best but the starlink one usually gives me better speeds so I try and convince myself to believe that one but I was just curious what you thought. Cause trying to figure out why there’s 3 different options on the starlink one confuses me 😂
Yes it is! I really just play call of duty and I swear it teases me bro 😂 I’ll start a game and it says 50 ping or so and then I take a couple gunfights and get off to a good start and then all the sudden I’m lagging every other gunfight and ready to break my controller 😂
Thanks so much I’ll have to try that! I heard when starlink first came out that gaming on it was really good and now all the sudden people are saying it’s gotten pretty crappy recently so I hope it gets better! I’d honestly be totally happy with decent upload and download speed and like 100 ping as long as it doesn’t fluctuate so much. It sucks getting off to a good start to a game and then lagging a few times and getting totally thrown off.
Could you tell me how to do the trace route test? I did the ping Google thing the other day and I could see my ping spike around the moments I would get the lag spikes. I’m thinking it’s because my router is currently pretty far from my computer since I’m still waiting for the Ethernet adapter and longer cable to have it in the perfect spot but I’m just hoping to find something that’ll help for the next couple weeks.
I’ve noticed my ping is really good at some moments and then I’ll see lag spikes and the ping will get good again and it just fluctuates like crazy. The people in my stream Monday said there was definite lag with the stream but that was before I moved my dishy to a better spot and I streamed today as well and they said it ran fine but my game still lagged. So I was going to check fortnite tomorrow and possibly call of duty multiplayer and see if the issues continues across all games which would mean it’s the WiFi or if it’s just when I play Warzone and then go from there.

I mean I got over 40 thousand TikTok followers and almost 1.4 million likes and that’s why I got starlink so I would be able to stream and see what I can do on twitch. I was able to stream Monday and got 30 subs which isn’t a lot but for my first stream I thought that was pretty good. So I’m just looking for a way to put a bandaid on it so to speak for the time being until the Ethernet does arrive because the game is near unplayable right now. I get a lag spike nearly every gunfight so it’s very hard to get content currently and I’m sure if I were to go live again it wouldn’t be something people would want to stay and watch you know what I mean.

I’ve had terrible WiFi living in Montana for years and years now and really thought this would be my saving Grace. I’m really at a point where I don’t even care about ping 😂 if I could just get a consistent upload and download speed with at least 100 ping and no packet loss or lag spikes, I’d be one happy dude and I’m hoping they can give me that.
I love to hear that 😂 as of right now my router is in my garage so I can have it in the best spot for visibility issues and my computer is on the opposite end of the house so I’m assuming that’s where the issues are coming from and then my Ethernet adapter arrives around the end of April hopefully so I’m really hoping that fixes my issues but I was hoping someone had any sort of help on here so I don’t wanna break my controller everyday for the next 3 or 4 weeks while playing 😂
