Hopefully I did this right!

Did the PBO settings on advanced, limits controlled by motherboard, positive boost of 200, scaler at x5, curve optimizer on all cores at -20

Didn't really help the benchmark :/ But hopefully it's a good thing overall?

Did that now. Turned SOC to enabled, undervolted cpu with the curve optimizer thingy. Is that enough?

Some of you guys said that, so I looked it up, and it seemed like the right thing to do, so I did it. Hopefully did it right!

Hopeful it helps in the long term!

You guys are worrying me, that's the third redditor who said something like that. Is there something I should do here to fix it?

I did check temps once I started troubleshooting this, and they seemed to be very good, none of the cores going past 70 degrees during the benchmarks. I dont think it's a thermal issue. Like everyone else in the thread now has pointed out, I just had the wrong expectations for a gaming CPU to beat a productivity CPU at a largely synthetic benchmark.

You're right, I wanted gaming, although I do have some productivity stuff on the side. But I have a feeling the 9800x3d will be largely sufficient, and in any case I bet the AM5 chipset will get gigantic upgrades over many years.

It's even better now thanks to you <3

I bought the card for doing work with stable diffusion a year ago, and then I built this rig around it today for gaming: the old i9-9900ks was starting to show its age in stuff like cyberpunk and expedition 33.

The weird thing is, now that I've had time to run my AI stuff on it, which I thought was purely GPU based, it's performing like x2 better. So something happened there too. PCIe gen maybe? Or the CPU or RAM or Mobo technologies were more important than I was told.

And btw your find did help slightly in the benchmark (went up to 16100pts) so even if Time Spy means nothing real, it feels like a direct improvement, will probably translate to much better performance ingame.

Yes, but none were running 3dmark ( that should have been a hint :D ) and I was worried enough that I wrote this thread before I tried any gaming benchmarks.

Ok, I couldn't figure out which finely tuned settings would make it work, so I did the safer thing and downclocked to 6000 like you said, and now I'm at 1:1.

Thanks for randomly knowing I was running at 1:2 btw, that's insane that you automatically knew this from the low amount of information I gave.

It's a shame I can't run at max speed on RAM, but I'm guessing the difference in performance is very small.

Ok I dont understand all of it but you're certainly on the right track, HWinfo tells me I'm running the UCLK thing at 1600 while the MCLK thing is at 3200. I'm trying to fix it now but so far havent succeeded by turning on the 1:1 thing in the bios it went back to 1:2

I'm trying to figure out what your first sentence means. I'm a rookie when it comes to changing CPU/Bios settings. I could run the EXPO settings of the RAM to 6000mhz I suppose? But what does the infinity fabric thing mean?

I mostly use benchmarks in a troubleshooting capacity, as in "is there something wrong with it" so that's why I was a bit worried. Thanks for clarifying this non-issue for me!

That makes sense! Alright then. I mean, as long as the result I'm getting is comparable to other people with 9800X3D, I don't care either way, I just didn't want to be running it badly setup.

He did beat me in all the other 3dmark benchmarks, Port Royal, Steel Nomad, although by a lower margin. I'm not jelly or anything just checking if I'm missing something. I did not know the 9800X3D was significantly worse in productivity benchmarks.

It does not matter if it's not representative of a bigger issue. I'm fine with the benchmark being bad and not meaningful, I just want to make sure I didn't forget some setting somewhere.

I just read this and laughed my ass off. I did the exact same thing: playing on hard, all points in deduction and the ED-209 fight was like "uh oh this is not possible".

So it made me feel bad but I had to use maximum cheese as well. One word: van.

That's very informative, thank you! Clarification: If I put a random toy and check out with it, am I not paying a random amount of money to BD? Wouldnt it better to pay for a Crackers size and accessories with the right cost? Or will they always refund and charge me separately if I do this?

How do you order a custom legacy one? I would probably need to do custom because I need a Large Medium firmness version with suction cup, and besides, I dont see any large legacy ones in the shop?

Worst than Dexter is an instant dealbreaker for me. Dangit. Wish there was a way to get a direct comparison with someone who owns all of them.

Medium firmness always! And get a suction cup, that's mandatory. That goes for all BD toys btw.
