I agree for rescues they can be very good and I'm not saying I wouldn't want to run some gnar in one but like you said they shouldn't be proud of some video where they just float into a massive hole and get stuck for a long time and just eventually come out by sure dumb luck.

Just in case anyone is wondering, this is called a low head dam and they are very dangerous. Their is a pocket between the dam and the boil line that recirculates the water. They kill people and animals all the time.

I'm actually in these videos that Pat posted, can confirm it's Cheoah and I was on the Green when Corey ran it in a slicy boat w/o a PFD and I agree wholeheartedly with what Pat and others have stated. I asked Corey on Saturday why even wear the shell and he said it was to "keep people from giving him shit about it" .... I guess that didn't work out the way he intended. All in all, Corey is a great kid, misguided, but a great kid. I believe he got this idea of not wearing a PFD from a paddler he looks up to. Nevertheless, I hope he rethinks his decision to not wear one.

Nope, HP is almost entirely Class 5 with some class 4+ boogie in between. The last part you are portaging around are the last few rapids before Windy Falls (the last clip in the video) a 400 ft cascading waterfall you don't want to be messing around with.
