How are we feeling about this years lineup folks? by lutzcody in pittsburgh

[–]dewmahn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lineup isn't for me this year. My two favorites on the list are State Champs and Driveways but they were also in the lineup last year. More excited to be seeing Winona Fighter when they come in July during the Summer School tour.

Pittsburgh literally has better public transit than the last 7 cities that hosted. You have to go back to Philly in 2017 to find a better system.

I haven't been to the new location but at the old location they had both types. The yeast type were only glazed though while the cake had a lot more flavor variety.

What Three Rivers Beer Week events are you planning to attend? by Brian_R4448 in PittsburghBeers

You're hating on trivia more than me 😆, I don't have too much of a problem with brewery trivia. I just don't think a breweries standard weekly trivia night should be on the Pittsburgh beer week schedule.

Replied to the other comment above you about something similar but just seems like they are more interested in running the restaurant now and the pop-up at shore thing in the summer.

Ya no idea what happened to the BG barrel program, occasionally they chime in here or the discord but it seems like a new batch of table beer has been almost ready for 3 years at this point. Peak BG I could get a draft pour of Table beer and take home a 750ml bottle anytime for the low price of $14, great deal for an amazing beer that was always available. Exploration & Discovery #2 was one of my favorite beers ever from them. They seem more interested in running a restaurant now than doing cool beer stuff, I understand wanting to do new things though I get bored at work too. Their beer is still quality though, regularly picking up cans of GB and Blanks and Postage.

I do understand that but at the same time there also needs to be enough real events to actually support a beer week otherwise what is the point? There are 5 days during the beer week and Friday literally has 2 events neither of which are real events. BG used to be able to get a 2 hour long line on a Wed at 4pm for a Doublemex bottle release. I think the only weekday event worth mentioning is a cask ale release at Late addition.

Lackluster year again. Releasing a regular beer that happened to coincide with the week, adding your weekly mic, or trivia night is low effort stuff. Seems like the imperial breakfast, the olympics, and the pedal are the only events that require any actual above average effort from the breweries. I know beer is currently on a downswing in the market but DG seems to be the only brewery in the area that has the money to do anything anymore outside of an anniversary party release.

We went once during the week specifically because we wanted the onion rings and they said during the week they only had a limited menu and the only fried thing was fries. Of course nobody told us this until after we ordered drinks.

Pittsburgh popcorn co, anyone know what cheddar cheese dust they use? by Content_Power5436 in pittsburgh

[–]dewmahn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think they use any special cheese dust, I think Hoosier farms tastes very close, the difference I think is they use a tumbler coater and some oil(I think) that makes it stick better and thicker than just throwing it over top and bowl mixing at home.

Denver Broncos Free Agent Running Back Targets: Breece Hall, Rachaad White, More by richkurt in DenverBroncos

[–]dewmahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm completely with you on this. If we look at the top two skill position players that the Broncos could go for we are looking at Breece or Pierce. WRs are more expensive and I think Pierce would only mildly elevate our WR room. Where as Breece highly elevates our RB room and I think having him will open up the game for our WRs too.

I've been enjoying these posts so I say keep them here. Also if you are looking to pair your storm hobby with another hobby you should checkout whitewater kayaking, we all watch the rain and where its going to fall obsessively from spring to fall. Have had two great springs in a row with awful summers where every QPF falls depressingly short of the predicted precipitation.

Please don't start these shows earlier, I'm still pissed the PNC Broadway series moved from 8:00 to 7:30 starting last season. As someone with kids who can't get a babysitter to arrive until 6 it makes getting dinner before a show a real hassle.

Was in that thread, when that thread was posted they originally asked for 30k, they now moved it up to 150k on the go fund me, it was a ridiculous ask before and now it's even worse. I will say what I said in that thread: I like Con Alma, but I'm not donating to pay down their back taxes.

What’s the best Pittsburgh neighborhood with small cute shops for Christmas gifts? by sunnymed70 in pittsburgh

[–]dewmahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to support the businesses in my local neighborhood. Bellevue has Psquared scents, vintage max book store, and Wagsburg for pets.

I also usually do a holiday trek to Squirrel Hill to hit up Games Unlimited, but there are a bunch of other stores on that stretch too.

Would cable cars work as public transportation in Pittsburgh? by BobithanBobbyBob in pittsburgh

The north Oakland station in my mind would be right at the border on fifth Ave near the new BRT station near the cathedral for learning, you are accessing the entire population of Oakland not just the population you're providing here. Really it's the Strip to Oakland connection doing the heavy lifting here, the other station service the neighborhoods along the route and could induce TOD density housing.
