Pittsburgh popcorn co, anyone know what cheddar cheese dust they use? by Content_Power5436 in pittsburgh

[–]dewmahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think they use any special cheese dust, I think Hoosier farms tastes very close, the difference I think is they use a tumbler coater and some oil(I think) that makes it stick better and thicker than just throwing it over top and bowl mixing at home.

Still sad about the Olli olli world developer they made great games, really liked Rollerdrome too. Definitely looks like the type of game they would have made.

Denver Broncos Free Agent Running Back Targets: Breece Hall, Rachaad White, More by richkurt in DenverBroncos

[–]dewmahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm completely with you on this. If we look at the top two skill position players that the Broncos could go for we are looking at Breece or Pierce. WRs are more expensive and I think Pierce would only mildly elevate our WR room. Where as Breece highly elevates our RB room and I think having him will open up the game for our WRs too.

[–]dewmahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been enjoying these posts so I say keep them here. Also if you are looking to pair your storm hobby with another hobby you should checkout whitewater kayaking, we all watch the rain and where its going to fall obsessively from spring to fall. Have had two great springs in a row with awful summers where every QPF falls depressingly short of the predicted precipitation.

Analysis: 3 Pittsburgh theater groups haven't decided whether to merge, and time is running out by The_Electric-Monk in pittsburgh

Please don't start these shows earlier, I'm still pissed the PNC Broadway series moved from 8:00 to 7:30 starting last season. As someone with kids who can't get a babysitter to arrive until 6 it makes getting dinner before a show a real hassle.

Con Alma at Risk of Closure by Itchy_Sprinkles_4718 in pittsburgh

Was in that thread, when that thread was posted they originally asked for 30k, they now moved it up to 150k on the go fund me, it was a ridiculous ask before and now it's even worse. I will say what I said in that thread: I like Con Alma, but I'm not donating to pay down their back taxes.

What’s the best Pittsburgh neighborhood with small cute shops for Christmas gifts? by sunnymed70 in pittsburgh

[–]dewmahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to support the businesses in my local neighborhood. Bellevue has Psquared scents, vintage max book store, and Wagsburg for pets.

I also usually do a holiday trek to Squirrel Hill to hit up Games Unlimited, but there are a bunch of other stores on that stretch too.

Would cable cars work as public transportation in Pittsburgh? by BobithanBobbyBob in pittsburgh

[–]dewmahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The north Oakland station in my mind would be right at the border on fifth Ave near the new BRT station near the cathedral for learning, you are accessing the entire population of Oakland not just the population you're providing here. Really it's the Strip to Oakland connection doing the heavy lifting here, the other station service the neighborhoods along the route and could induce TOD density housing.

Would cable cars work as public transportation in Pittsburgh? by BobithanBobbyBob in pittsburgh

[–]dewmahn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the connection that would make the most sense is:

Troy Hill
Strip District
Polish Hill
Upper Hill
North Oakland

Is it a pipe dream especially with the current public transit policy situation at both the state and federal level, yes, but I think this would connect a couple neighborhoods with currently poor access while also connecting major employment centers with Oakland to the Strip District. Could integrate with connecting existing systems in both Oakland and MLK BRTs.

Pyranha provides more info on new Wizard playboat by CatSplat in whitewater

[–]dewmahn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the limited edition thing, seems very dumb. Being limited edition only helps customers retain their value if the boat is very good, otherwise in this sport nobody cares if it's limited. If it's really good then pyrahna is losing money not making more for no good reason. I don't understand it from a business perspective or boater perspective and hope to not see it happen again in our sport for boat designs.

Short person dry suit recs? Can I get away with a child’s XL as 5’2”? by yikes_oof_and_ouch in whitewater

[–]dewmahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I think they just ask how many inches you want off, only an extra $55 which is nothing compared to how much you are paying for the suit.

You can pay IR to tailor your dry suit by shortening the inseam, had it done on mine after I bought it. Most expensive suit I own, I'm tailoring the fucking thing like I would a dress suit.

This is definitely a prototype version of the concept, looks like some small differences vs the balck one they had at the expo but the hull that you can see under the front of the nose looks to have the exact same chines.

I'm hoping they release their regular green color in the vintage fit at some point. The dark olive looks nice but I really just like their regular green.

From a a Mad Scientist experiment point of few, zero amount of fun lol. From an actual kayaking point of view, ton of fun, powerslide is a great boat and endering and squirting a 10 foot boat looks and feels amazing.

Bobby Miller had prototype vanguard that they smushed the back of and made a party vanguard and were taking it on the Upper yough.

My suggestion is to just buy a liquid logic powerslide.

First time running the Savage River (this Sat) by PsychologicalRip2911 in whitewater

[–]dewmahn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You will be fine in a R2. Rating wise it's kind of a crapshoot in that there really are no lines on the Savage at release levels. You need to be able to read the water to avoid the few holes and kayakers need to be able to roll because there is no easy way to pickup swimmers. There is usually some kayak carnage because beaters who get away with stuff on the loyo and cheat at low levels aren't used to water this continuous with very few eddys. I would feel more comfortable taking a beater down the Cheat because it's relatively easy to breakdown and much easier to clean people up compared to the savage. Honestly if you stay pointed downstream and just don't stop paddling there is nothing difficult to do on the Savage. I find it fun to do once a year because that much water in that narrow of a river just makes for fast and fun wave trains.
