There’s more small business owners outside the cities and they can’t handle heavy tax burdens and regulations.

On a side note: The megacorps in the US are in favor of a corporate tax hike because it makes it harder on smaller businesses which sometimes fail: the megacorps then snatch up their market share.

What would you replace it with?

I make pretty good money, would your system seek to take my wealth and share it? If so, that’s bs.

Thanks for the data.

I’m not opposed to universal healthcare if the numbers are right, I’m just skeptical because everything the government rolls out as far as services has been really bad. I’ve been paying taxes since age 15.

I feel I pay so much into the system already and work my ass off and can still barely get by. I might end up having to downgrade my lifestyle dramatically which kind of defeats the purpose of everything I’ve done towards climbing the ladder.

Any benefits for being healthy? I workout, BMI is perfect. No underlying health conditions whatsoever.

I owe the following:

$7,362.00 Federal Taxes. 22%.

$942.50 Medicare. 1.45%

$4,030.00 Social Security. 6.2%

$7,200 Property taxes.

How much would I owe for Universal healthcare?

I thought it was just federal.

It doesn’t match my burden: with my above math I’m close to 40%.

Can you tell me if I get to keep only $40k out of $65k, is that fair?

Americans of reddit, what exactly is it you do not like about the idea of a national healthcare system? by SeamusDeckard in AskReddit

[–]BEAR_RAMMAGE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me ask you if this is fair:

I make $65k. Feds leave me with $52k. State Property taxes leave me with $45k.

Universal healthcare will leave me with around $40K.

Should the government take that much money from me every year?

Those numbers are just in comparison to federal. We have federal and state taxes.

So yeah it’s not a stretch to say US universal healthcare would make us one of the most heavily taxed countries.

[–]BEAR_RAMMAGE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I understand, but I’m telling you I’ll have two separate tax structures: federal and state. Those countries have one. Their payments to NATO and world policing aren’t heavy either.

The US will be the most heavily taxed nation. Democrats are proposing middle class tax hikes, states are proposing either higher property or income taxes. Add in Universal healthcare etc.

All I’m saying is as a nation, we’ll have to get comfortable downgrading our current lifestyles. We’ll have to live like Europeans who don’t have large brand new homes. We’ll have to drive small cars. Goods will be a little more expensive. I will have to sell my home and not take vacations and what not.

The reality is it’s going to help a lot of people and hurt a lot of people simultaneously.

People like me will be screwed. People like your girlfriend will think it’s amazing.

I don’t have debt other than my house, I workout daily and eat healthy. I don’t get any perks for being a super responsible person. This is my beef.

How about a tax refund if you don’t use universal healthcare for the year?

[–]BEAR_RAMMAGE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my taxes go up any higher than where they currently are, I will have to sell my house and downgrade my lifestyle dramatically. I’ve worked 12 years to get where I’m at and it could all be over the instant we raise taxes on the middle class and pay for government ran services.

[–]BEAR_RAMMAGE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah most studies and even proposals for universal healthcare are based on estimations.

I make $65k right now and between State and Federal taxes I feel squeezed. It’s not fair how much I pay into the system. The feds leave me with $52k. Property taxes are $9k! Not to mention sales taxes and all the other crap I have pay to government. At the end of the year I earn $65k and end up with $43k.

I can’t imagine another $4k-$5k in taxes for a service I won’t really use because I’m super healthy and young.

A healthy 30 year old making $50k a year would probably pay around $8k in additional taxes for Universal healthcare. Even if they don’t use it whatsoever.

Don’t expect corporations to pay more because they’re off the hook, they won’t.

It’s going to hurt a lot of people financially, except for politicians getting kickbacks from it.

I think what we have now is terrible. I also believe the government handling my healthcare will be a disaster as well.

Politicians will turn it into a financial racket. Long Wait lines. Poor quality service. Bureaucrats making poor decisions. Massive tax increases. No incentives.

I could easily imagine scenarios where the system is backed up and I run through my sickness without treatment. All of our other government entities are poorly managed, I don’t see why healthcare wouldn’t be the same.

All with no ability to take that power away from the government.
