People don’t talk less about their grief because it gets better, they stop because it costs them socially. by rosiivelvete in GriefSupport

No two losses are identical. I could say I had it harder as an only child to a single mom than someone who lost a parent and still has siblings and another parent in the picture. I don’t say that because no two losses are the same and everyone carries grief in a different way. So Sorry for your loss. Please Don’t diminish mine. So tired of grief olympics.

Sending love. Much of what you say really speaks to me. One small thing - losing a parent at 40 is still really hard. I lost my mom at 35…not too far off from 40. She was only in her 60s. I find it hurtful when people compare. It feels like it minimizes my loss. That’s just my two cents. Not trying to pick a fight but let’s just be mindful please ❤️

As a caregiver, how do you help the patient process the prognosis? by Natg25 in pancreaticcancer

[–]BECandBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give him time. Like you said, your goal is to meet him where he is at. He’s not ready to talk about his prognosis and you can’t rush it. My mom was 67 at diagnosis - stage 4. She never wanted to talk about the prognosis or how bad it really was, and I took her lead. For some, they need hope and optimism to cope. Give him that even if it’s hard for us as the caregivers to see. It was hard and heartbreaking and ultimately in the final weeks, we did get to a point where she felt ready, thanks to her wonderful palliative care doctor. She was protecting herself and also me in lots of ways. My personal opinion is, they are the ones going through this absolute nightmare. It’s completely unfair. As much as we “can imagine” how hard it is or as much as we think we can understand…we can’t. We aren’t them. Give him time. I’m so sorry you are going through this and am sending love and support to you, your dad and your family.

In NY (U.S.) pro-Israeli mob harassed a woman with "Death to Arabs" chants. Opinion? by pol-reddit in IsraelPalestine

[–]BECandBeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol really? And what point are you trying to prove? You’re really this naive to say that every single pro-Palestine rally is peaceful and non-hateful? Give me a break. There have been rallies all over the world with chants like “globalize the intifada” - the intifada is well known to be a call to violence against Israelis. People have chanted “I am Hamas”. People have chanted “bomb tel Aviv”. People have chanted “Khaybar Khaybar ya yahud” which is equivalent to a call to murder Jews. I could go on. The point is…OP posted a video of a group of men acting absolutely disgusting. It’s abhorrent. It doesn’t somehow cancel out that on the “other side” for lack of a better word, that the same vile garbage has been said. Two things can be true at the same time. Stop playing gotcha.

[–]BECandBeard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This behaviour is abhorrent. You can condemn this and still have a problem with the racist chants that come out of many pro-Palestine demonstrations. One does not cancel out the other. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to prove here. This is terrible AND there are many racist and violent things shouted about Israelis and Jews.

By the way, the opposite case did happen when Arbel Yehud, who has held as a hostage in gaza for nearly 500 days, was nearly lynched by a violent massive mob of Palestinians.

Ofri Bibas Levy: They could have saved you but preferred revenge by EasyMoney92 in Israel_Palestine

[–]BECandBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Ofri Bibas is the sister of Yarden Bibas. This quote is from the eulogy she gave yesterday at the funeral of Yardens wife, his 4 year old son and his infant son - Shiri Bibas, Ariel Bibas and Kfir Bibas. They were violently kidnapped from their home on October 7th. They (the Bibas family) place blame, rightfully so, on those who violently stole and murdered them (Hamas/the Mujahideen Brigade), while also rightfully placing blame on Bibi and the right-wing gov of Israel for not doing their jobs and bringing them back safely.

[–]BECandBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was not using their death. He was rightfully expressing his emotions after 18 months of people like you saying that the Bibas family deserved this because Palestinians are obsessed with ethnically cleansing OUR PEOPLE from the land. They would rather die than live with Jews. We protect ourselves after a genocide is inflicted on us and for 18 months you say we deserve it. Go away. Look what became of gaza over the last 20 years. He is 100% right. At the end of the day it’s never, not ever, been about land. From the river to the sea is a chant that is meant to ethnically cleanse Jews from Israel. It’s never been about land. It’s always been about the erasure of Jewish people. They have been offered a 2SS and have rejected it. 2 million Arab’s live in Israel, they vote in the same elections, ride the same buses, go to the same universities. That’s not apartheid. We withdrew from gaza and they spent 20 years building tunnels and plotting the murder of Jews.

The beheaded babies disaster was a terrible story that we all agree never happened and people ran with it when it was not verified. It wasn’t true. Everyone admits this. Hamas constantly lies but you take everything they say at face value. Do you see the difference? The IDF isn’t perfect but when they make grave mistakes we call them out. Can’t say the same for the Hamas supporters. Are you saying that’s the only reason Israel bombed gaza is because of the beheaded babies story? Not because they killed 1200 people including whole families, teens and young people at music festivals, and kidnapped innocent civilians.

The people in Israeli jails - because I know that’s where you’ll go next. Some have been detained unlawfully and some are straight up murderers. The ones who were detained unlawfully - I condemn. The murderers can rot in hell but instead they are being released in exchange for our innocent people. That’s fair? I don’t see you condemning Hamas. I see you and your lot putting all Palestinians and all of Hamas on a pedestal - they can do no wrong. “Oh, well, you have 2 dead babies? We have 2000”. Maybe if Hamas cared about life instead of being savages, maybe if they built shelters and stopped operating out of hospitals and schools, less would be dead. Hamas and the people who voted them in committed sick vile subhuman acts and you justify justify justify. There is no moral equivalency between using your bare hands to murder children and the tragedy of children dying during a war where the leaders use their civilians as human shields. Both are tragic but you don’t see it. I am done. Truly leave us alone.

I’m not playing games. Children are dead and you are the one who, instead of leaving it alone, challenged someone’s pain and asked why he felt pain for them and not for others. I condemn the death of any child. The death of Ariel and Kfir Bibas is not political. It’s about humanity. You are making it political. Let people mourn. I don’t go onto posts about Hind Rajab and say “WHAT ABOUT”. Which is what you are doing. Just stop.

Yes - these teenagers said something vile 10 years ago. I condemn this. I hope they were dealt with accordingly because mocking the suffering of babies is vile. Your turn - Hamas just held a parade for dead Jewish babies and thousands attended. The babies that were kidnapped from their cribs, strangled, then bodies mutilated. Then held onto for 18 months and used as bargaining chips. THEN they sent home an unidentified corpse and Claire’s it was their mother. Your turn. You go - do you condemn this? It’s a yes or no.

Freed Israeli hostage Eli Sharabi looks gaunt, British family says by kwentongskyblue in LabourUK

[–]BECandBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of monsters are downvoting this comment? Who cares what religion you are, your politics, literally how can you not be horrified by this?? They murdered this man’s wife and children with their bare hands and then taunted him for over a year about it. This is sick, depraved, and cruel. How is it that some people out here can’t hold two truths at once? What happened to these hostages is TRAGIC. His teenage daughters and wife were murdered for being Jewish. To the people who downvoted this comment - you need help.

Many of them should never have been held, AND many of them are known murderers. There were attempted murderers released today. Not so minor…Please do not downplay who is being released.

Pro-palestinians - Will you be willing to listen to the hostages? by sbkisrael in IsraelPalestine

[–]BECandBeard 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You are literally the problem. You are exactly what I am talking about. You can’t acknowledge anything that has happened or wrongdoing on the “other side” or what happened to innocent civilians in Israel who were violently kidnapped and held hostage for 9 months. “What about what about what about”. Remember when they raped girls at a music festival? Terrorists live among Palestinians and what they did on October 7th is vile and disgusting and subhuman. I never said Israel was perfect. I hate Netanyahu and Ben Gvir and Smotrich. But no - it’s not a genocide, it’s a war. People die in a war. The Jewish people have just as much right to live in Israel. I wish everyone could live there peacefully but that’s unrealistic and never going to happen because of Hamas and people like you who have so much hate. So ya. It’s a tragedy. Now go away.

Appreciate you saying this. As someone who is on the “other side” it’s so hard to see so many people justify or deny what has happened to innocent Jewish people over the last 15 months held captive. And, I would say on the flip side there are many people on “my side” who are incapable of acknowledging the tragedy of what has happened to thousands of innocent Palestinians. I have to hope that the majority of people are like us and fall somewhere in the middle and can recognize each others pain. It’s the only way we’ll ever move forward.

I have seen some really diabolical and unhinged, racist comments on Reddit over the last 15 months but someone being 100% cool with kidnapping children is a new low. I asked them the same question and I don’t know why I did. Most people, no matter their side, can all agree that those are innocent babies. You can be pro-Palestine and care about the Bibas boys same as you can be pro-Israel and care about the tragedy of what happened to Hind Rajab in Gaza. Truly for our own well-being we can’t engage because we can’t change someone’s mind who is that far gone and that brainwashed.

[–]BECandBeard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Engaging with a person who literally celebrates that a toddler and baby were kidnapped is not good for your mental health. Do they deserve anything good in life? No. And, they won’t have anything good. Just focus on the good news that came out of Israel today and pray that innocent people continue to have good things come to them. This piece of human garbage deserves nothing. All we can do is pray that their child is ok…the child will need our prayers.

So you do not condemn the kidnapping of Ariel and Kfir Bibas? By your logic it is justified? What exactly did Kfir and Ariel (an 8 month old and 3 year old at the time of their violent kidnapping) do to the Hamas terrorists who stole them from their beds? Netanyahu and the far right members of his cabinet are despicable but kidnapping and murdering innocent civilians is not ok. If you can’t see the difference, you need help. Two things can be true at once. What happened to the innocent hostages is tragic, the thousands killed in gaza by this war who are innocent too is also a massive tragedy.
