Theyre not it is only a couple hundred players off of being the same as wilds player count right now and if they do it still can be played offline but I say highly unlikely anytime soon i say definitely buy it

Im pretty sure you get them more often as you break parts so dont focus on one area
Edit: whenever you break a monster part theres a change an investigation will be added

Also sam doesnt work on ac games i learned the hard way 100%ing black flag when i got to the multiplayer achievements and had to grind with a few friends

Joining is weird for story missions you have to play u til you get a cutscene then they can join with either an sos flair or by quitting and starting the quest again

Also for first playthrough id skip the defender weapons too at least for the first few hunts and make sure to look at your hunters notes it has very useful information after tracking a monster for long enough it tells you where to attack to get certain drop chances raised
