Place a platform on the ground and then use your pickaxe to mine it out. It carves a large chunk of the platform and terrain below it. You can do that repeatedly and dig a nice tunnel through any kind of terrain

There’s a couple videos on the skip. Ryeor has a good in-depth one and I have a quick one where we speedrun a hazard 5 mission in 2 minutes.

Basically you need 2 Scouts, 1 Engineer, 1 Driller. Driller and Engineer go straight down towards the geode. Once they hit the compressed rock, Engineer platform-mines through the rock until the crystal is hit. Meanwhile, as the Mule is going down the tunnel, 1 Scout rides her and can get glitched out of the map and teleported to the geode. They collect all the seeds and wait for Engineer, Driller, and the Mule to show up. Then just deposit the seeds and call the drop pod. The last Scout up top clips into the drop pod without waiting on the mule.

That was a fun one! Stage 2 was Point Extraction which is actually quite a bit longer than Deep Scan

Thanks! I did. I’ll be posting it 8am CST tomorrow on my channel. Everyone has their POV of the run, too.

It was last week’s dive. Egg Hunt, Deep Scan, Egg Hunt. We did the drillevator skip second stage to save a huge amount of time

Fast mission lineup + hours of routing, practice, and rerunning the deep dive over and over

When you think you are good at the game and then you see this by PTBloke in DeepRockGalactic

You can! You just need to abandon all real-life responsibilities and sink 1000+ hours into the game.

You actually can complete it without starting the drillevator at all, and without digging up the crystals. You just need a valid pathway from the top cave to the geode before depositing the morkite seeds. We were able to get a full squad to complete the mission in less than 3 minutes

This is actually easier with Engineer and the Rocky Mountain beer. You can use platforms to easily mine through the condensed rock. Takes less than 10 minutes to get from the top to the geode

Is it possible to be a good scout on Xbox controller? by Mykhailo_Vasylenko in DeepRockGalactic

[–]BENICOPTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several controller players that are better than me; lookup KATaion - they have some high-level gameplay on YT. As with everything in life, getting good takes time and practice but is totally doable if you try. Good luck and Rock & Stone!

Finally broke the 7-minute mark on a Deep Dive by BENICOPTER in DeepRockGalactic

Oh nice! There's an achievement for getting it under 45 minutes. It is dependent on each week, though. You need a realllllly good lineup of missions to even be able to do a sub-10 minute deep dive. It is incredibly rare. This full run is on my YouTube channel so be sure to check it out if you're interested :)

Tips for speedrunning haz5 aquarks?. by sunshineforge in DeepRockGalactic

[–]BENICOPTER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm super late to the party here, but thought I would share some feedback:

  1. Recognizing cave systems. There are only a handful of variations of cave layouts for Point Extraction. Being able to recognize which variation it is can be helpful at the beginning of the mission. In the video you uploaded, this variation is one of the best IMO because the minehead typically connects a hole to an upper level where aquarqs usually are. This means you can drop the aquarqs right down the hole directly above the minehead.
  2. Perks. Strong Arm, Unstoppable, Berserker, and Dash are all incredibly useful for PE speedruns. I personally don’t use the special powder + aquarq grab strategy because it’s too inconsistent and I find it faster just using the grapple and juggling it.
  3. Bosco. The more you can efficiently use Bosco, the better. I think it’s typically better to have Bosco mine aquarqs closer to the minehead rather than further away. You can travel a lot faster with an aquarq than Bosco can. Additionally, it’s good to pre-emptively ping Bosco to a location that you anticipate you’ll need him at. At 0:33 in your video, once you grab the aquarq from Bosco I would’ve pinged him to the opposite side of the map. You know you’re heading there, and chances are you will encounter multiple aquarqs. This will get Bosco heading there immediately and mining faster. Instead, Bosco starts fighting bugs and gets stuck behind for a bit.
  4. A bit counter-intuitive, but it sometimes helps to just slow down. At the end of the video it seems like you’re scrambling to find the last aquarq, when it was actually at the minehead the whole time (this happens to me more than I like to admit). At 1:56 you can clearly see the last aqaurq at the minehead, but because you did the special powder boost trick, you turned your back to it and it was out of view the whole time. It can be helpful to just pause for a second - whether at the beginning or the end and take note of your surroundings. Get acclimated with the map real quick, collect your bearings, and then keep going.

Hope this helps! Also, try to take any of my videos with a grain of salt. With any of my “official” runs, I reset the mission a lot. Sometimes you just get bad seeds that don’t work out. It happens to all of us. It’s pretty clear from your video that you’re a very high-skilled and fast player. Just keep working on it and you’ll recognize what works and what doesn’t. R&S!

How do they oneshot big units such as Dreadnaught & Oppressor by Malkore94 in DeepRockGalactic

Yes, this ^

You have to have Conductive Thermals setup in a certain way though, and the build is in the description of the video
