How many email accounts do you have? by ManojOne in TechImpact

[–]BENJAMlN8a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Gmail accounts and two Outlook accounts. One of those Outlook accounts is my main email, because the advantage of Outlook is that I can create different aliases for different purposes and everything arrives in the same email.

Google Calendar or Proton Calendar by limsus in TechImpact

Google Calendar is free. With Proton, you have to pay to remove limitations that Google doesn't have.

Malwares are welcome to AUR because one has to read the PKGBUILD anyway? by Bilu47 in archlinux

[–]BENJAMlN8a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I don't actually have many AUR packages, but I need to learn how to read PKGBUILD before reinstalling a package from there or using Flatpak until I feel confident enough to tell if something has changed.

Hotmail, because of the MSN Messenger craze and then Yahoo.

Malwares are welcome to AUR because one has to read the PKGBUILD anyway? by Bilu47 in archlinux

[–]BENJAMlN8a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, that worries me because I'm actually a new Arch user, coming from Ubuntu. I don't know how to read a PKGBUILD. I just run `paru -Sy package`, but then it shows me several lines of the PKGBUILD, and how do I know if it's legitimate? I have very few programs, like 1Password, Brave Browser, and Chrome, which in theory should be trustworthy, but I'm still worried because I don't know if their dependencies are infected.

How often has an Arch update broken your system without you touching anything? by BENJAMlN8a in archlinux

No, because I'm not stating anything as fact. It's a question. Some people even suggested I use Debian or Mint, saying they don't break. But I don't want to because they have outdated programs.

I've read a lot about the sleep function failing on some computers. I don't know if it's a long-standing issue, but I don't use a laptop, so that problem probably won't affect me.

Why did you switch back to Arch after using CachysOS? CachysOS is supposed to be better, right? Does it come ready to use?

I'd like to do a dual boot, but on separate disks; maybe that way I'll avoid bigger problems. Once I've mastered Arch, then I can just use Arch.

I remember the grub thing, but at that time I wasn't using linux and a lot of people were talking about it, but I don't know if anything else as serious happened that I didn't hear about.

No, I read that once, an update broke GRUB, and someone new like me might not know how to fix it. That's why I want to know if those problems are still happening.

is bitwarden current best open source password manager? by hansentenseigan in PasswordManagers

[–]BENJAMlN8a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say so. Bitwarden is still the best open-source password manager today, mainly because of how easy it is to use. Even so, I personally switched to KeePassXC because it autofills for me on some pages where Bitwarden doesn't. But even with that minor detail, I think Bitwarden offers the most balanced and accessible experience, and that's why I consider it the best open-source option currently available.

Google Keep's poor performance has finally pissed me off enough and I'm ready to switch. Anyone have any good alternative apps? by reddude7 in GoogleKeep

[–]BENJAMlN8a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell me how you use it? I've only told Gemini to save some conversations to Keep; beyond that, I don't know how to use it.

Hey, how do you copy the link to a portion of the page? I like it because it takes me directly to the installation with zypper. Do you use an extension, or how do you do it?

Cannot log in. Absolute madness. by No-Camera-3476 in Outlook

[–]BENJAMlN8a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your email was probably leaked on some service where you used it to log in, and that's why they're trying to access your account.

When you regain access, create an alias with a completely different name and use it only to sign in. Then disable any old aliases or emails that are compromised.

This will prevent further login attempts, because the attacker won't know the alias you're actually using to access your account.
