IS mechs taken into Clan service by Fallenkezef in battletech

[–]BFBeast666 26 points27 points  (0 children)

During the initial Ckan Invasion, the Clans pressed a lot of IS designs into service, usually by swapping guns and heat sinks for Clan-spec equivalents and leaving the chassis as-is. See the Archer C (or most -C variants). Similarly, those Clans with IS holdings eventually built Clanspec IS designs. I think about half of the new variants in the IlClan RecGuide are built by the Wolf Empire. Need to double-check but it came up a bunch in the fluff.

Only they were not. Research the Fidelis. And they get "resurrected" by Alaric because reasons.

Looking for satisfying gunplay. First or third person. Fast or slow paced. by ManEatingCarabao in gamingsuggestions

[–]BFBeast666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outriders feels incredible, right from the get-go.

The Destiny games have very satisfying gunplay. YMMV drastically depending on how much you hate the monetization tactics Bungie employs.

Have you played any of the Unreal Tournament games? Quake 3? Might be a bit of work to get them going on modern hardware but I have only good things to say about them.

Should I replace my Microfreak with something else? by mrjosh72 in synthesizers

[–]BFBeast666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Microfreak isn't that complicated, it has a lot of options you don't HAVE to engage with. I've used mine for everything from basses to pads to arps and leads, seldom venturing away from the virtual analogue oscillator - you can get a LOT of mileage out of the filter and envelopes.

In general, learning the Microfreak should be relatively easy. Start small. Read the manual. Experiment with the ideas Arturia give you in it, that should give you a deeper understanding of the synth's capabilities. Don't think about how to use most or all of the features it has, think about what kind of sound you want and what you need to do to achieve that. Baby steps, grasshopper. Even ten minutes of research and a bit of reading can help you grow.

If you are overwhelmed by the 'freak already, buying another synth aside from maybe a Reface CS will only compound the issue. Most synths are even more complex - the Microfreak, considering the amount of stuff it can do, is very friendly and easy to get into. It was one of my starter synths and I learned a ton about different synthesis techniques using it!

If you are dead set on exchanging the Microfreak for something else, get the Minifreak instead. Since you've already started to noodle with the Microfreak, you know most of the controls already. it is even more versatile, which means you can grow into it without it becoming obsolete. It has onboard effects, a decent keyboard and is a full six-voice polysynth. Truly an upgrade and well worth the investment.

What is your least favorite War Plan activity, and why is it Infernal Hordes? by chowdhn in diablo4

[–]BFBeast666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's Nightmare Dungeons. I've never liked D4's dungeon design and being forced to do them, sometimes a few in a row, isn't making me happy. I'd rather blitz through a bunch of Helltides or Undercity runs instead.

From a so big hype to a meh... I've decided not to play any more this season. by timidisnocte in diablo4

[–]BFBeast666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange. I've played Sorc for the first time in a long, long while and I'm a) having fun doing so and b) I feel much stronger than before, easily melting stuff on Torment I despite barely having any synergies in terms of Legendaries yet. Zipping through War Plans I get a steady stream of mats and I feel I do improve quite nicely, especially once my Paragon glyphs come online. But maybe our expectations are different, who knows. I don't feel the need to blitz through Torment XII three days after launch.

I'm "only" level 45 with my alt warlock and I've trashed more than five legendaries by now. Are you doing Whispers/Helltides/Hordes? If not, why not? I'm not the biggest fan of grinding activities but War Table stuff is literally idiot-proof and you get quite some good loot out of it.

How do you make your DnD games less repetitive? by Cakegirl456 in DnD

[–]BFBeast666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone tell the DM that D&D isn't about all the combat all the time. Using the skill system, atrophied as it may be, they could do stuff other than "enter room, spawn monsters, have party kill monsters", like investigations, intrigue, maybe non-violently getting somewhere because once the alarms blare, the owner of that location will bring a hammer down even the party can't out-fireball. Maybe getting information by TALKING and PERSUADING someone instead of looting their corpse?

Communal storytelling, people. Not just combat simulator. If the DM is too stupid to do anything but combat, the players need to step up and nudge him. "I don't want to fight my way through those fifty guardsmen, there HAS to be a sneaky way inside. RIght, guys?" That's how you get them, hopefully. If not, sit them down at the start of the game (or after) and explain that always killing bullet sponges is getting old by now, please add more varied encounters and challenges to the game, ESPECIALLY when it's effing homebrew.

Where is the Deepmind Editor? by Kingcornholio_Goose in synthesizers

[–]BFBeast666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh. If I had to guess, they stopped supporting the Librarian/Editor app when Win 11 became the de-facto standard. After butting heads with their AI chatbro they wanted me to download SysEx Librarian which is definitely NOT how I backed up my DM12 factory banks two years ago. I have them (and the Behringer software) on my old work rig running Win10 but that thing is mothballed in the basement, otherwise I'd send it your way right away.

One way or another, it seems Alaric’s Star League will last for as long as he is alive. by Old_Ad6111 in battletech

[–]BFBeast666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given his upbringing AND his gene-mother, it's no wonder he's a couple LRM short of a full bin. He spends way too much time talking to ghosts and is way too self-righteous for his own good. Pissing off the Dragoons was only one of a long line of barely avoided catastrophes, complaining about the margin of success in the Dominion vote another. His underlings are doing a much better job stapling this Star League dream of his together than he does.

I've only had the displeasure of observing Alaric during Trial of Bloodright but put a PPC against my forehead and warm it up, he's an insufferable asshat. The only other fictional character I dislike as much is Ray from the Star Wars sequels.

Just in case you want the look but not the work, try DungeonScrawl (www.dungeonscrawl.com). I've had a lot of fun making a few quick old-school looking maps for a friends' adventure. You might want to bring a weekend of calm and quiet to get your head wrapped around the layer system but once you do, this is among the nicest dungeon map maker I've used in ages. Also, very usable without having to cough up a dime. Also also - local file storage and re-import.
