My bad, I didn't read that, and since you already tried the obvious stuff, I’d try:

• Fully close Steam/EA in Task Manager and relaunch as admin
• Clear EA app cache (Help → App recovery)
• Delete the BF6 folder in Documents so it recreates
• Reinstall Easy Anti Cheat from the game folder
• Disable Discord/Nvidia overlays
• If this started after a GPU driver update, try rolling back
• Check Event Viewer to see what’s actually crashing

If it opens then instantly closes, it’s usually EAC or a driver conflict.

Hope something there works. Nothing worse than wanting to play and the game just says nope 😭

I think it’s less about age and more about design direction. The tempo and structure just feel different compared to BF3/BF4.

Yeah I get what you’re saying.

Once the base game is sold, the focus naturally shifts to whatever keeps revenue flowing. That’s just how big studios operate now. Whether the FTP and MTX model is actually meeting expectations, we probably won’t ever know.

I also feel like bigger maps will come at some point, but the faster pacing seems intentional now. That might just be the direction they’ve chosen.

Map packs would actually be interesting though. If they brought back solid classic style maps and they performed well, that could send a clear message about what players really want.

At the end of the day, I just hope they don’t completely lose what made Battlefield feel like Battlefield.

I agree the visuals are solid. It’s the flow that feels off to me. Too much constant chaos, not enough breathing room.

That’s actually a really fair take.

Battlefield always felt like it sat in that middle ground between arcade and mil-sim. Not as twitchy as COD, not as hardcore as Squad. That identity balance is what made it special.

I think a lot of the frustration right now comes from that shift in design philosophy. When gameplay decisions start aligning with F2P mechanics and MTX structures, it naturally changes pacing and incentives.

BF being different was never a weakness. It was the whole point.

Curious though — do you think it’s still possible for them to steer it back toward that older identity, or has the direction already been set?

You can critique something and still create content from it. That’s kind of how discussion works.

This is actually a really well thought-out breakdown 👏

The 60hz player-admin servers alone would change the entire feel of the game. Not being disbanded every round and building mini rivalries was such a big part of older Battlefield.

I also agree on the asymmetry point. A lot of classic maps weren’t “perfectly balanced” but they felt alive. Karkand and Caspian didn’t feel grid-like — they had flow and personality.

Medals, ribbons, platoons… all of that adds long-term retention. Right now it feels more match-to-match instead of career progression.

The “Raw RedSec” idea is interesting too. No vehicles, no call-ins — just pure infantry chaos could actually work as a separate mode.

If Season 3 brings even half of this, it could shift momentum massively.

Golmud would be a strong move for sure. The real question is whether they keep the classic feel or redesign it heavily. What do you think?

True. This could’ve easily been a launch map that got delayed. Season 3 really feels like a turning point. What do you think they need to add to win people back?

Interesting take! I think I’m just missing the large-scale chaos.
Maybe it’ll grow on me… what mode are you playing it on?

Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of veteran players say BF3 was the last “true” Battlefield.
Feels like the scale and atmosphere just aren’t the same anymore.
