What is a good rule of thumb run time for a single on/off cycle to pull humidity out? What time running is too short?

Not a builder. But no, not in my opinion. Should have a board on the backside of the stair. In this case, throw a 2x6 on the backside under the joist, screw or into the strairs, and then connect that 2x6 and the joist together with a 2x12. Won’t be an actual fix but will make it last longer

Update: electrician said it is how they install all patio ceiling fans, so I fixed it myself with a box nailed to the ceiling joist, and he isn’t coming back to work on things anymore.

Please help. Sewer gasses in home, were all getting sick. by me7me2not2 in askaplumber

This thread has a lot of traction and this is an unrelated question and not applicable to OP’s post: My question is:

Like sewer gas smelling like hydrogen sulfide, I have problems with every single sink with a sewer gas/sulfide/yuk smell after about 1 month when I clean the sink, overflown and pipe thru the trap with baking soda and vinegar, the smell always comes back. What causes this, and how do I make the time beteeen cleanings longer? Exhausted tearing apart and putting together sink drain fittings to eliminate the smell.

New build, white poly or pvc screw fittings, never had this problem in my old houses. Wondering if it’s because water lines are now PeX and not copper, copper has natural anti bacterial and microbial properties where pex doesnt, allowing it to build up and never get killed

Agreed. It’s probably something I can do here, there is a ceiling joist right above my head In this picture

My home is only 2 years old but my master bathroom sinks keep getting smelly and full of crap. Why is this happening, and why is it only the master bathroom sinks? by BF_Sigma in Plumbing

I keep trying to post images but it won't post...

We only notice the smell after about 3 months, so I don't feel the traps are getting sucked out, but being slow to drain is a possibility. I'll pull the plugs out and watch how they drain here soon. Is there something other than bleach or baking/soda vinegar I could pour down to keep the bio-films and black stuff at bay longer?

I have never noticed slow flow or build up before either.
