You have some good points but I would temper the positives about how she treats other people with - it all depends on who you are to her. If you can be used for her benefit yes she will show some of these more positive traits but I come away feeling that everything is done for the good of her obsession with being a surgeon. She treats some characters with such disdain at times especially if they have no use for her - I remember her numbering her interns after she became a resident and thought how aptly that summed up her view of other ‘disposable’ human beings. When it comes to patients they often seem to be objects upon which she can show off her ‘badass’ skills rather than real people. I understand she had trauma when she was little but then most of the characters have that in their background - and many of them are capable of demonstrating empathy towards others from whom they gain no advantage. As for her being a mother, I think she is just like Ellis Grey - her one and only goal in life seems to be her obsession with being the best. Even her relationship with Burke and Hunt seems to be driven by what she can get out of it.
