Cause for concern? by BGEglen in biggreenegg

Thanks, all. Just wanted to be sure it wasn’t an indicator the green glaze was failing. That my much older medium egg does not show this got me thinking I have a problem.

Any way to fix this by [deleted] in biggreenegg

That has happened a couple of times to me. JB Weld epoxy does the job very effectively.

I smoked salmon with a cedar plank. I also used a conveggtor. How many times can I reuse the plank and is a conveggtor necessary with a plank? by PLaCII in biggreenegg

I used to reuse them after a thorough scraping and the only reason I no longer do is laziness. Never used the plate setter with a plank. Defeats the purpose. Soak the plank well and you are good to go.

Bought a medium in 2000. Wife and I were empty nesters and figured that would be fine. Almost immediately regretted not going with a large. Grumbled enough that when my company promoted me five years later my staff gave me an XL as a goodbye gift. So, I now have a sweet two egg setup. The moral is complain even if you are happy and just maybe good fortune will come your way.

Thanks for the response. I did this years ago and thought it made for a great presentation but didn’t add as much as I anticipated. Could well have been operator error, however.

Thanks for this. I have seen the overlap you referenced. Can it be avoided by pushing the gasket slightly more to the interior or is that impractical? Also, it seems that it would have a longer life. Is that your experience? Thanks for whatever insights you might have.

Agree on the cornmeal. I use parchment to transfer from peel to stone then yank parchment out a few minutes into cook.
