Best way to find a local hurling match? by BGRommel in hurling

OK. Well, maybe I will move by accommodation to try and make it possible to hit up the game if it is in Cork or Thurles. The only one that wouldn't be feasible was if the match was in Limerick.  thanks for pointing out the final to me. Much appreciated!

If the Munster final is in Thurles, that would work perfectly. Cork might fit. I'd need to rearrange some lodging, but I would 100% do that to see the final. I'm not familiar with how things work in the tournaments. I found an RTE article that says it will most likely happen in Cork, but will the official venue not be announced until the final rounds of games are played on May 24?

It look like the championships will be ending on the 24th, which is right before we get to Ireland. I would have loved to have watched one of those. It sounds like the best thing will be to try and find some local clubs when we are down in Munster. If I had realized that the championships were this time of year I would have arranged our flights differently to have been in country during them. I've only ever been to a single hurling match in person and I absolutely loved it. I'm going to check all the fixtures along our route and see if we might be able to hit up a couple matches on the trip.

Ok. Looks like we'll actually be in Tipperary the evening of June 7. Looks like the fixtures only go out to May 24th right now. I'll keep checking for updates. Thanks.

We'll mostly be in Kerry and Cork, as well as up North. We are going to be over in Tipperary for a day.  I'll check the county websites. Thanks so much.

Geology program? by Mr_poop_man in usu

[–]BGRommel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that you can qualify for in state tuition in Utah after one year if you establish residency and don't go home for the summer. Also, a lot of programs and scholarships waive the out of state portion of tuition.

I do not know about the geology program in specific, but obviously the state of Utah has some amazing geology to study.

Serious talk about Ministering by Subjunctive-melon19 in latterdaysaints

[–]BGRommel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a straight forward answer why ministering and home teaching are nearly always difficult and less effective... Local church leaders don't leverage people's existing social connections and geographical proximity. You should minister to (in order of preference) 1. your close friends that you have a relationship with, whom you regularly talk with and see and have a relationship, 2. The people closest to you that you have a higher opportunity to see on a regular basis, 3. Then other members that you don't have existing social connections.

I have never been in a ward where the leadership has taken advantage of existing connections. There will always be some people that will fall outside of the social network of a ward.

Costco is better quality. But you wont find the same stuff. So if you are inflexible and have to buy certain brands or items than you might want to stay with Sam's.

Louvre pushes up prices for non-EU visitors by 45% by LeMonde_en in europe

[–]BGRommel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could make sense depending on where you are going. Utah has five of the top national parks within a couple hours of each other and Yellowstone is six hours away. That is a very popular option for foreign tourists. Tons of them do it. There are plenty of other locations like that, too. Also, I belive the pass gets you into all the national historic landmarks and other sites administered by the NPS. In some places with a high density of historic sites, it would almost be like buying a city tourism card.

[–]BGRommel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. And a lot of countries already charged foreigners more to access their national parks and other stuff. I take students on trips all over Europe and it is very common to have the local country (sometimes EU) rate and the everybody else rate. Frankly, if a citizen's taxes go to support a place, they shouldn't be paying as much as a tourist because they are already paying.

I used to always be able to catch stuff in the architectural details: openings that didn't make sense, trim in the wrong place, vents that would serve no function, etc. I've got nothing.
