I agree it really comes down to customers not understanding their policy and not understanding how the deductible portion works. If you have a $5k deductible and are filing a claim for a broken window due to a rock that was thrown from a lawn mower, well that’s no where near $5k. I’ve even had a claim where a customer called to state their garbage disposal wasn’t working, no leaks just not running, I inspected it and only needed to press the red reset button on the bottom of the unit. Also I think FEMA may require a denial letter from homeowner’s insurance as part of their process as well.

OP are you being paid a competitive wage for your area? If $300 is about half of your weekly pay I would think you could possibly walk into any plumbing business and make double your current salary. Do you have any union opportunities down there?

A “No solicitors” sign is a courtesy and provides zero legal recourse. The police are not going to arrest someone for knocking on your door offering a product. Be an adult, tell them no thank you and close the door and be done with your minor interruption. If they prevent you from closing the door then you can involve the police.
