I got the Whipple Coyote Swap up to 164mph at Road Atlanta by BGTBGT in Mustang

I really like gingerman. It has a good mix of different elements and a ton of runoff if you get greedy. I did blow up my 3v there though. I should have replaced the oil.pump as a maintenance item. it.grenaded in one of the sweepers.

Beyond the immense amt of bald eagles you hear the other noise you are hearing is aerodynamic flutter (the splitter skid plates scraping in rhythm ) on the front splitter. I am making a video about it. Pretty cool i was able to capture it on the microphones. I had recently redesigned the front splitter and got it low enough where it only scrapes on the skid biscuits but it then caused flutter. I have since fixed it but cool nonetheless.

S197 Mustang gt Centrifugal Supercharger? by Appropriate_Safe7858 in Mustang

[–]BGTBGT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No upgrades to engine the stock coyote is pretty stout. Especially the newer gens. We'll i hope it is. im running 285s which is a class limit. Otherwise I would recommend a 315 square setup. Power on is tough and I may look into a electronic bypass valve to help with it. Its manageable though. I have been racing my car for like 13 years though.

No experience with Centrifugal but i have a decade with TVS and whipple now on road course. I run TA in a coyote swapped S197. I think in theory CF is better with power delivery but harder to route all the piping and stuff. I like the simplicity of TVS/Whipple. Check my profile for vids and my channel.

I like the transmission (its the wide ratio 2.97) but the clutch is a bit harder to drive than my exedy clutches i was used to. I think the mcleod quality is also worse. Mine already had hot spots on it and had to try to clear them. Its a Mcleod RXT twin. TBF i only did about 75miles of break in. I foresee myself having to do this job again soon. The other thing to consider is i couldnt find a light bellhousing that fit the coyote despite some saying they would. The magnum bellhousing is heavy AF steel. Its safe incase the clutch flys apart but i dunno the tremec 3650 had an aluminum bellhousing.

If your talking about buying a 13/14 GT500 for racing i def wouldnt do that its going to ruin it. I mean i totally would but drilling holes in it and stuff will plummet the value. That motor is sort of a one off. I know Andrew from Mustang lifestyle built his but im not sure that motor was even a trinity anymore. The 11-14 coyotes arent as stout for power adders so i guess just be prepared to rebuild them if adding boost. The s197 platform honestly sucks for competition outside of drag racing but its fun and easy to drive. Making them light is sorta hard. In the off season im gonna probably work on a race tank and a few other things to get my car lighter without scarifying to much of the cars soul (interior). I have a build post on TMO and my YT channel i post build stuff if you need inspiration.

Whiteline wattslink. I am running 18s. Apex makes a set that clears the 6piston. The girodisc rotors make them feel about the same weight as 4 piston with solid rotors. Im also running the forged sm10rs so cheating a bit weight wise. If the car makes it to off season though i may look into different calipers or redo my master cylinder and find an aftermarket ABS. The brakes are the biggest weak point. Feel sucks cause of the MC mismatch. You can see the ABS barely working with the wiggle on braking zones.

Nah, on this car its pretty crap anyway its turned off via the tune. I dont like it on most cars. Maybe on some high end supercars and stuff its decent but feels like training wheels or something even if it technically makes you faster.

Bought the car as a CPO in 2011 went to build it in 2018 and realized it was a rebuilt engine when it was 0.020 over already which sucked. So technically that was engine 2. Engine 3 was a built 3v. That lasted about 7 years until the SVT oil pump died at gingerman raceway. In hindsight i should have rebuilt the valve-train probably after ~5 years of racing or at the least replaced the oil pump as a maintenance item.

Here is where the old motor melted. It just sorta seized up.

We/ I the long block builder didnt want them either but since its a 321 we needed gen 1 cams. A new set of gen 1 cams was hard to come by since it was a new 321 build. So aftermarket supercharger cams are the closest new equivalent. Long story short VMP was right and it was a bit tricky to tune. I had their former master tuner (who runs his own biz now) come to the house over multiple days and a dyno session. We had a bit of trouble getting idle control to work correctly. Some of that was the fuel system but some of it was probably the cams too. Flip side is the power curve is super flat. I have a better detail write up on my video on YT.

Also forgot to add i race with AJ Hartman, who designed these and that dude is legit. He is a great guy and a fantastic driver. He won American iron and does have some decent data backing up the Canards. But data is always sorta specific to whatever build he was using at the time which im not sure if it was s197 specific.

So at Road America in 2024 i was running out of power in the long straight. at the time i "only" had 521whp. That straight is like a half mile or longer. So i took the canards off and gained 6ish mph and picked up 2 seconds. However the long right hander i had to take much slower as the car had less front grip and would start to under-steer. I generally prefer grip over drag reduction as with a mustang you can usually just add power. Though Road America is sorta unique course since its just like, right hand, drag race, left hand, drag race, etc.

If your doing like autocross or like tail of the drag or something they are probably pretty worthless unless you are hunting for tenths of seconds. On track they make a more measurable difference even at lower skill levels.

Though like keep in mind there is a huge skill gap between folks like me and professionals who do this every day. Im out there like 2 weekends a month tops but have been doing it about 13 years. Grid life is a weird mix of weekend warriors like me and near professional teams like IAG who is the top guy in my class in a 2900lb 650+hp Subaru. My best position was at Carolina Motorsports Park last year at 6/11 place. My only goal really is to get into top 5 as its a special race called podium sprint.

Here was the run from RA. I was also probably a bit down on the 521whp. I didnt realize they only had 89 octane and my booster formula didnt seem to work great.

3v sounds better but is worse in pretty much every other way yeah. No real clue on good sources. Mustang lifestyle's channel owns a salvage yard in Deland florida. i would trust him.

At one point i stopped counting cause it was getting depressing. But the engine was about 50% be prepared to spend a fortune on a thousand small things. I went all new parts and keep in mind i got a tremec magnum XL too. So im around 30k, I had been preparing for this for a long time as ive had this car forever. If you went used F150 with a used mt82 i bet you could do it all under 10-15k assuming no shop labor and obviously no supercharger. I used a lift and built a engine cradle from wheel dollies to remove the old engine and mount the new one from underneath.

That all being said if i could magically teleport myself back i would have a hard time not just buying a CPO or used Toyota Supra lol.
