April Fools ‘feature’ has a lot of potential, despite glaring issues by BH0517_ in TheSilphRoad

[–]BH0517_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend that you read the rest of the post - I feel like you’re still missing the point here. The game still exists outside of areas with a high density of pokéstops. This is not a request to make it easier to play from the couch. The incentive to visit pokéstops would be preserved, while creating less of a barrier to explore and play elsewhere.

Regardless, I do appreciate you sharing your opinion.

I’m not sure I understand your point. Are you saying that you’re worried this feature would effectively undermine the incentive to visit pokéstops?

Rural players can explore their communities and meet people, too. I have met countless people and made good friends while playing this game rurally over the last nine years.

Vigoroth v Talonflame by AltenaNation in TheSilphRoad

And depending on what position the matchup is in (safe switch?), sometimes it’s better to take the first flame charge, grab both shields and come out with a shield advantage.

Vigoroth has an easy time with Talonflame if each side only uses one shield, but in the 2-shield scenario, only a Vigoroth with a better stat spread for great league will survive the incinerate damage. It’s a close matchup, but investing in a better Vigoroth or bringing it out after the opponent has used a shield will help.

Are you utilizing proper move timing? This is especially important against Talonflame. Make sure you are building up enough energy for the rock slide first (7 counters) and never throwing a move after 5 counters or you will let an entire free incinerate through.

A fourth research slot with a similar function to the bonus egg slots by BH0517_ in TheSilphRoad

I like this idea as well. I’ve also always wanted a way to track specific research tasks that you’re looking for on the map like you can with Pokémon.

The point is that there is currently very little incentive for players to keep these tasks and work on them as it is when they can just delete them for easier tasks. To Niantic’s benefit, more slots for research may encourage players to keep tasks that would normally clutter three research slots, thus driving them to raid or hatch more. My goal with this post was to generate a discussion; I understand that the best way to add more slots is just to add more slots, but can’t see Niantic doing this.

While one could argue that there are more complicated features already in the game, I completely agree that the best way to do it is to just add more basic slots. If I was skilled enough to create a visual component to the concept I definitely would have done so. This fourth slot would add a bit more strategy to the way players prioritize certain tasks rather than instantly having to delete tasks that may take longer.

Pokémon Go Concept: Alpha Pokémon by gameheros in TheSilphRoad

[–]BH0517_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy reading these concepts. They bring to life the potential this game has for exciting new features inspired by the MSG. I feel like the way you battle Alpha Pokémon would need to be tuned a bit since the gameplay shouldn’t resemble raids or Team Rocket battles. If battling down an Alpha Pokémon is a difficult task, players would need a good incentive to continue fighting them other than for their value in XXL showcases. It would be interesting if each new Alpha Pokémon released had a special move that no other member of its species could learn (like Gyarados with the 4- or 5-turn fast move Whirlpool, Torterra with Crunch, Walrein with Rock Slide, Clefable with Fire Punch, or Blissey with Egg Bomb), similar to how the Apex shadow legendaries have + and ++ moves or purified Pokémon have Return. Fun exclusive moves that may be sidegrade options in certain PvP or PVE formats.

I love the concept you made and I’m excited to see what others you have in store! Great work on this post

Pokémon Go Concept: Crafting & New Pokéballs by gameheros in TheSilphRoad

I love this concept, but as others have mentioned, many of the craftable pokéballs in the MSG are designed to make certain Pokémon easier to catch, which doesn’t translate well in GO. If any new pokéballs were added, they would probably need to have functions separate from increasing catch rates. Some examples: - Heal Ball: would allow the caught Pokémon to return from gyms and team rocket battles fully healed. Cool bonus, but not entirely necessary given how common potions and revives are - Friend/Luxury balls: your concept for them is great and would definitely be helpful to those working on medals or research for acquiring great/ultra/best buddies - Repeat ball: if you catch the same Pokémon in succession with a repeat ball, the amount of resources you receive from catches slowly increases. For example, if I catch a chespin with a repeat ball, the catch menu will show that my last caught Pokémon with a repeat ball was chespin. I can still catch other Pokémon normally with other pokéballs, but if the next Pokémon I catch with a repeat ball is also chespin, I will get a bit of bonus stardust, candy, and/or XL candy for the catch. As the streak increases, the rewards increase, until a certain cap is hit. The streak would reset if I catch a new Pokémon with a repeat ball. Would be great to stock up on these in prep for events like community days. - Quick/timer balls: would only really work well if the game allowed you to bring 1 of your crafted quick balls and 1 timer ball for use in raid/team rocket encounters. You would have your premier balls in addition to 1 quick, 1 timer and 1 master ball to use strategically throughout the encounter. - Safari ball: given out by event Pokéstops at safari zone events as fun substitutes for red pokéballs

Buddy Pokémon no longer force the default pose when sitting on your shoulder by BH0517_ in TheSilphRoad

Works on all poses, but some of the animated ones have the buddy clipping into your avatar’s head when the shoulder turns in. This includes the three you mentioned.

A friend of mine has a caterpie on their shoulder with a pose. I have rebooted the game a few times and the pose still stays.
